The crib that I want has been out of stock and today I get an email that says it is in stock! I get all excited and call and start ordering two! It starts going bad when she won't give me the 10% or whatever discount for ordereing two and then says the shipping is going to be around $400, now I may be being cheap but I think the shipping is ridiculous! The cribs are only $299.99 a piece, the shipping is almost as much as the crib! I didn't get them, but I want them and I am just sitting here frustrated! Am I being stupid? It was going to be almost $1000 for the cribs and shipping which I could pay but we have so much else to buy I just think that is to much! Maybe this is my eye opening experience to the cost of having 2!

I think that's a ridiculously high amount, given everything else you're going to have to buy. We're getting our cribs from IKEA b/c they're smaller and less expensive.

I found that other places on the internet carry pretty much the same cribs that babies r us does and ship for free (often with no tax either).  Try googling the name of the crib that you want.  I would NOT pay $400 for shipping!!!  That is just crazy!

You are not being stupid at all.  That is crazy!  I was dying to get these Ikea cribs and they were out of stock in all C stores forever and it would have cost more than the actual crib cost to ship.  Needless to say, I waited til they were in stock.  That is a LOT of money, and when you are buying two it's hard.  Call me cheap, but having two babies at the same time has totally changed my outlook on this stuff.  We went with IKEA Gulliver cribs which were $100 each.  They are not fancy, but they work and take up less room than other, more ornate cribs.  I am sure if I was having one baby, we would have gone a different direction.  They are also recommended by Baby Bargains.  I'd look at other stores to avoid the shipping.  GL!!

And I agree KelliWill having two is definitely changed my outlook on costs and spending (which is probably a good thing!)!

Look at the book baby bargains and see if the brand you're ordering goes by any other names. I am willing to bet you'll find them cheaper elsewhere and get free shipping.

FWIW, I got my cribs and dressers are JCP for about $900 after tax. I had a code for free shipping to the store, so I just had to pick it up. There's no way we could have spent a lot of nursery furniture, esp. for 2.

OMG that is unbelieveable for shipping!  We got our cribs from jcp.com too and they were I think $299.00 each and we got free shipping (they were running a promo)...but I am certain the shipping would not have been anywhere near $400...good luck!

That is nuts... I would never pay that much for shipping!

We lucked out and found these cribs that we liked (available in different colors) from WalMart and they have FREE shipping to your closest store.  It got really good reviews and is very solid when put together.  For $200, we couldn't turn down a convertible crib with free shipping : )

We are also getting ours from walmart. They are only $199 each and got awesome reviews! The dresser we got from there was $235. We are very pleased with them and the free site to store shipping is great!

When the cribs I chose and rechose several times kept going out of stock at Target and Babies R Us I looked up the name of the crib I really wanted in a search engine. I found out Walmart had it the cheapest, and shipping to my nearest store was free. Three days later 1 crib I had originally picked months before arrived in the mail as a shower gift from Target. I lucked out and the matching one was back in stock and it was a free shipping week. ......The things we have to worry about!
