Do you know if there are things they can get from the state to help out? to become more independently mobil? The friend I know rec'vs food stamps and has gotten a wheel chair but is there anything else that he could apply for that you might know of?

I have mitochondrial disease which is a muscular dystrophy. MDA is awesome!!! BUT they are dealing with major budget cuts so you'll want to contact them ASAP to get into their program.  I know a decent amount about assistive technology and mobility devices... can you give me a bit more info on the child like age, gender, exact type of MD, etc??? I can probably find you more resources, oh and include the STATE they live in. I gotta run to the doctor, but I can pull together a resource list later. :]
