Were able to lose/tone the pooch?

I have to say it's not my most attractive quality... especially considering I am pretty petite. I am 5'3 and wear a 3 - 5. I'm only up 5-7lbs from pp weight (depending on the day and what I ate lol), but that is kind of a lot for a smaller frame. I do cruches and all that jazz, it just won't go away. I wish joining the Y was in our budget right now but it's just not Crying

  • Tiny pooch is still there. I haven't been working on it lately though, so it's not surprising.

  • I got flatter when I stopped doing crunches, added different yoga/pilates core moves to my running routine, and started eating clean. I'm about 10-12 pounds less than pre-pregnancy weight and wear a size 4.

  • I don't have a pooch, but my stomach is not quite as tight as it was before.  It's a little discouraging, but I am working out and eating well, so I can't complain.  I am about 5-7 down from pre-preg weight.
  • I really haven't been able to lose the pooch. I gained 45 pounds with DS and am still up 15-20 pounds from what I weighed before pregnancy. I've very petite too, so I think its noticeable depending on what I wear and am not really happy with how I look. I was a size 2 before pregnancy, and now, I'm wearing a size 6, and if I want to be extra comfy, or depending on how the pants are made, an 8. But, I can't really complain too much because I haven't seen the inside of a gym in about a year and my coworkers and I are constantly eating out for lunch at places like Five Guys, etc. So, while I still have the pooch and some of the baby weight, I really haven't put any effort into losing it. I'm not used to having to put in the effort. Before I got pregnant with DS I had a super high metabolism. I could eat absolutely whatever I wanted, only exercised here and there for short periods, and I never ever gained weight. After pregnancy, my body completely changed and now everything I eat goes straight to my belly/thighs.

  • I'm sure you look great. I was chunky in jr high and I took a dance class 1st semester of hs. It toned up SO fast. Granted, that wasn't pre-baby, but it was awesome. I think I lost 25 lbs from August to December. Do you do cardio too?

ETA - no i most definitely have not. I have a bigger bump that a lot of the 1st tri 'bumps.' I just thought I'd throw in what I know. :)

Regular crunches don't reach to where the "pooch" is. I found the exercises I do in Runner's World magazine and also by Googling "post-partum ab exercises." A lot of people will tell you that abs are made in the kitchen, too--meaning what you eat has a vast effect on how you look; it's not just exercise that will shape you up.

I do crunches geared toward the pooch, at least that's what Jillian from 30 day shred says Wink I also eat very healthy meals and don't buy a lot of junk because I have no will power!

It's just frustrating finding what works post baby! I do so much better when I can go to a gym and not workout in my house with all the distractions of other things I need to do.

  • Don't know if this helps, but my sis did, finally, her youngest is 4 (she's 47, and now has the bod of a 27 y.o.).? I think it just takes time for the body to "reset."
  • My pooch isn't totally gone, but it got a lot smaller once I started doing the Shred. I can actually wear fitted shirts without having to suck my belly in - it's a miracle!

  • Also, what I meant by "depending on what I eat" in the OP is that sometimes I might eat two helpings of things at dinner, or a bigger breakfast/lunch than normal. I don't necessarily eat anything bad, I just sometimes eat bigger portions than I probably should!

  • I have been working on it for almost 2 years.  It has gotten smaller, and you can tell I have muscle behind it, but I'm still packing some baggage.  It sucks:(  One thing that really helped was Jillian Michael's dvds...the woman makes me suffer, but it was the first time I saw good results in a loonngg time.  I have only been doing them since August (mixed with two others, I have a rotation) and I fell off the wagon for a bit...so I'm hoping there is more pooch losing to come!:)
