1st Trimester

I have a vent and it is full of drama.

I have an employee who is just barely 18 years old.  She has previously joked about getting off her birth control and not telling her bf so she can get pregnant.  Well, now she HAS gotten off the birth control.  She told ME that she got off of it because her doctor said that's why she's not losing weight, however she told my assistant that she was doing it to get pregnant.  I guess her bf knows???  I'm not entirely sure. Either way, she HAS talked about getting off bc and wanting to be pregnant in the (very recent) past to me.

 

ANYWAYS, she got off of it last week.  3 days later she took a pregnancy test (??????) then she had her period.....now she's been off for a little over a week.  She still thinks she's probably pregnant (yeah right!) This girl seriously has no clue about how/when to get pregnant, otherwise she wouldn't be testing right after she gets off of birth control.

 

Now I hear that she has been talking crap behind my back that because I'm pregnant I don't do anything at work and that I'm lazy.  THEN a *nameless customer* calls our CORPORATE OFFICE and tells them I lay around on the exercise equipment all day and complain.  Obviously NONE of this is true.  I'm the general manager.  Why the hell would I do nothing all day and why would I be LAYING on the equipment?  I told my area manager that the only thing I could think of is that one day last week I was very tired and after I had clocked out from my shift, I did lay on this table called the *circulator* that shakes you. It is supposed to be a cool down and help with water retention. You are SUPPOSED to lay on it, and there is nothing wrong with me doing that after my shift.  I also told her that I closed my eyes and didn't say a word to anyone, because I was trying to get a cat nap in before picking up my son from daycare.  There were two employees in the room and one or two customers.

 

Now it is true that I have cut back on some of the more physical things, but I pull my weight!  I don't make my employees do everything. Plus, I would like to think that we are a team...there have been cases where other employees had a long term sickness or injury that prevented them from doing certain things...but they made up for that in other areas (and just fyi, my nausea and fatigue has been horrible which is why I have cut back on some things).  This girl herself had mono last summer and wasn't allowed to do some tasks for quite awhile when she returned to work.  She should know what it is like to be utterly tired all day!

 

This makes me so angry because now I have my area manager involved in all of this.  She says she doesn't believe any of it and she is on my side, but I am still so mad.  I told her I think this employee is jealous of me and my area manager is the one who suggested that maybe this employee called herself or had someone else call and make this complaint against me.  I wouldn't put it past her.  And her mom is a nutcase who has called the corporate office before with random nonsense and *complaints*.  She is also still friends with an ex-employee who had beef with me too.

I have it out for this employee.  Her hours are getting cut.  She is being replaced.  I'm tired of her negative energy.   She really does think she owns the place and has *pushed* past employees out.  Well she can't push out her own boss!  Dummy.

  • i read it! and yep, find a good excuse and fire the chick. I would write her up for every tiny thing she does wrong until it becomes enough to can her if necessary.  Your boss will back you up.  :)

  • I read it, too. That really stinks! I hope it gets better for you. It can be bad enough to have to deal with m/s and nausea, but then to have to deal with this kind of work stress is just too much! Good luck!

    She sounds like a moron!  Just be careful that you don't do something that she can use against you later!

  • I told my assistant she doesn't know half of the crap (a lot of it passive aggressive or underhanded/sneaky) this employee has pulled since my assistant has only been at our location since June.  I guess I've put up with it because it's random.  Sometimes she's fine, then crap like this will go down.  And she's an awesome sales person and has good availability.  But I'm finished!  Angry

    Wow.  Ditto this.  I am sure you would do everything "by the book" but in this case I would be certain to follow procedure since it sounds like she would be one to try to turn it around on you!  GL!
