turkey 911 help!

so H's brilliant idea to cook a turkey (even though we don't have the proper tools) was a fail. It is done on the outside and raw on the inside. He tore up the bird and tra-la-la-la ran off to work for the night. I find the turkey and FREAK. It needs to be cooked NOW right? Since we already started?!

I stuck it back in the oven at 425* with the raw sides up in the cooking pan....will this work? Any other tips? I've never cooked a turkey in my life and just KNEW this was going to be a disaster. :(

  • since it is done on the outside, I would cover it with tin foil or a lid if you have it and lower the temp.  You don't want it to burn.  But yes, you need to cook it now.

I texted H to remind me to kick his azz tonight when he gets off at 12. He doesn't *get* food safety. I'm recording my speaker for my thesis study  TOMORROW at 8 am. I have no time to pick up his pieces.

  • an azzkicking is sooo in order here.  Nothing like food poisoning to bring the family together for the holidays :)

Good luck on your thesis stuff tomorrow.  Hope it goes smoothly for you.
  • best bet is low/slow but do finish cooking it. If it is really dry, get some turkey broth (like in the boxes in the soup aisle), heat some in a pan and put the slices in there for a few seconds. It will help it perk up a little.
