NBR: broken baby toe?

Hi!

Wasn't sure where to post this but maybe someone here would be able to help!  Anyone else break your baby toe??  I broke mine about 6 weeks ago - never went to the doc since everything and everyone said they can't do anything.  It still hurts so I finally went today and after wasting 2 hours of waiting - I got "just tape them together".  I am itching to get back to the gym but can't wear my tennis shoes without pain.  (I think part of the problem is I walk around all day barefoot at home so have altered the way I walk so it doesn't hurt my toe.)

So my question is - any tips on making this healing process speed up???

  • Ok, you're going to think I'm a wierdo, but my dh has these shoes called Viegram 5 fingers (sp?) They're basically toe socks, except shoes.  Ugly as f*ck, but he swears by them.  Apparently it's like walking around barefoot, excpet your feet are protected...  Maybe they would help??

  • Keep up your vitamins and calcium! I've broken toes before and it really hurts. But I'm pretty sure you just have to wait for it to heal!
  • I've broken lots of toes b/c I'm klutzy.  I refused to stop working out/running last time so I'd ice it til it was numb  then put on my shoes & run.  It really helped tons.  There really is nothing you can do for a broken toe though to make it heal faster.

  • I broke mine several years ago.  I was still in highschool and I remember the doc gave me a note not to go to gym.  But ya there is nothing you can do about it.

ETA: And they told me to wear stiff shoes.  (so that they toe couldn't move)

  • Thanks guys!  I know there really isn't much anyone can tell me - I guess I was more curious how long it had taken other peoples to heal etc.  I have been wearing flip flops since I broke it - but it's Wisconsin and that has to change soon or my feet will be really cold!  (Solid shoes were just killing my toe but I better get used to it!)
