Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What do you give your daycare for Christmas?

I posted this on 6-12 months and realized how clueless I was in giving a Christmas present for daycare.  Two people said a weeks worth pay.  What are you doing?

  • This year I'm going to giving my DCP a half hour massage gift certificate.

  • We use an in-home daycare provider and last year I gave her a tin of homemade cookies and a check for one week's pay.  I will probably do something similiar this year.  They are such a great family and take really good care of my DD.

  • there are 4 people that are in DS room- am ppl and pm ppl so I am going to make then some cookies. Last year I just brought in an assortment of munchkins as a last minute decision.

  • Im a preschool teacher in a daycare and while we love all the lotion, mugs, and cookies that we get the gift cards to our favorite stores or a weeks pay really helps us out. I also love it when my kids make me a special ornament for my tree and put their name and date on it.
  • Since I have 6 teachers to buy for, I'm doing something inexpensive.  I'm thinking a candle for each (from Bath and Body Works).  It's either that or a Christmas ornament.
  • I was just going to make her some cookies.  I can't afford to give her a bonus, crap I'm not even getting a bonus.
  • I have 4 people to buy for this year since DS spent half the year in the infant room and half in the toddler room. I am thinking of either getting Yankee Candles or ornaments for each of them.

  • DD has so many teachers at her center and she was in both the infant and toddler rooms. I may try to bring in breakfast or lunch one day. I ws thinking a sandwich tray or chicken tender tray or pizza? Not sure. If I do gift cards they will be $5 each and even then it may add up to be more than a $40 lunch for the center.

  • I would like to add that my DCP is in home and closing down for 2 weeks for Christmas, which I am of course still paying a full month for, so I guess in a way I am paying her 2 weeks extra for Christmas.  Yeah I am sticking with my cookies plan.

TWO WEEKS?!?!  What are you going to do?  I don't get that kind of vacation time from work so I have no idea what I would do with DD for that long!  Yeah, cookies are PLENTY!

Luckily my job lets everyone off from Christmas to New Years so I am only looking to fill in for 1 week (or really 3 days).  We might take off or trade off who takes what days, or a friend offered to watch him.

  • I pay $1200 a month so a weeks pay would be $300. i think i'm gonna give the 2 ladies a $100 gift card each to the mall

  • I am giving cash which is what I did last year. $50 each to of his main 3 teachers. My issue is what do you do for the part time girls that are in there every now and then. I think I need to talk to the director. I may give the main teachers cash gifts and then bring lunch or breakfast for the staff. Not sure. The money adds up so quick. I am not even planning on spending that much money on family gifts.

ditto this. we are so strapped for $ that I don't H & I will even be able to exchange gifts.

  • I know they would prefer cash or gift cards...of course.  But I just don't even get how people afford that plus just paying for daycare when you have more than one teacher to buy for.  Last year I gave them each (4) a mug and a $5 Starbucks giftcard, candy and cookies.  This year there is one main teacher and the others rotate but there are mainly 4 that are in her room regularly.  I am not sure what to do.  Are ornaments okay as part of the gift?  Or is that assuming they celebrate chirstmas?  I usually try to make the holiday gifts more general.  But I like the idea of DD making them ornaments...

  • Last year when DS was at a daycare center I gave each of the two ladies in his room a $25 GC to Target.

  • Wow, I can't believe the ones that are giving a weeks worth of pay.  I mean, they do watch my child and everything, but no way am I giving someone I talk to for 5-10 minutes a day a $200 gift when my husband who I love, gets a $50 gift.

They will get a plate of cookies.  And probably store bought cookies.  I like them and all and do appreciate the care they give Sam, but to spend more on them than I do my husband is ridiculous.  And maybe I'll throw a candle in there.

  • A week's worth of pay... are you kidding me? I don't even spend that kind of money on my parents for Christmas.

I'll probably do a gift card or a tin of cookies and chocolates. I just don't have all that extra money.
