As of today's doctors appointment at 21
weeks I have gained 25 pounds. Holy cr*p! I almost cried right there at
the doctor's office. She said I should be eating 2000 calories a day,
and I am making it my goal to get to the gym 3 times a week. We signed
up for the YMCA on Saturday (DH has been 4 times already now, so proud
of him!) and I am waiting to hear from a trainer to meet up with them.
I am very nervous to find out what I can and cannot be doing. I've had weigh issues as long as I can remember, and it is so wierd being ready to attack this issue (once again), but knowing I am not going to see the number go down. Unfortunately I had also gained some weight before the BFP, so i am going to be having a great time after this baby is born trying to get it all off. Has anyone else gained too much wieght? I'd love to hear what you are doing to curtail it! My plan is stick to the 2000 calories, keep a food journal (I am really good at 'forgetting' what I've eaten), and get to the gym 3 days a week.

Re: Holy weight gain batman!
I totally understand. I had gained weight pre-pregnancy so I always do two weight gain calculations -- one based on my normal pre-preg. weight and another based on my weight the cycle that I got pregnant.
I haven't had an appointment in two weeks but I'm probably up over 20 pounds. Try not to worry. Some women stop gaining towards the end of the third trimester. And you have too listen to your body. If you are hungry and eat more than 2000 calories, that's what you have to do. I've had plenty of friends who have gained 50+ and lost it. You will be able to do it!
I completely agree. Weight can be lost, but a healthy baby is all that matters. My friend is preggers and has decided that she shouldn't eat as much because she gained 5 pounds in a few weeks. And I'm thinking, what? why put the baby at risk? i just don't understand the obsession with weight gain.
Well you don't want to hit the gym too hard if you didn't work out a lot before BFP. I work at my local YMCA and the best class for pregnat women is H2O Cardio I would take a basic class b/c they only last 30 min. It would even be good to swim laps for 30 min as well with a kick bord. Basic Cycle is also a good class to take as well. I hope that this helps.
eh, gaining too much weight isn't necessarily healthy for the baby, so I don't quite get that argument that some are making.
To the OP: good for you for taking control of the situation and chaning your lifestyle! GL
