1st Trimester

Just looking for some reassurance...

I'm a little over 10 wks. and after a long day on my feet Saturday I noticed some brown spotting.  It lasted through Sunday then seemed to go away.  Today I was straining while throwing up and then it came back again and was more noticeable this afternoon.  My Dr. said brown usually isn't a problem but they're having me go for an u/s tomorrow just to be sure.

I know that brown typically isn't bad b/c I had it a little bit at 6 weeks and when DH and I went for our 1st appt. at 8 weeks the u/s was great.  I'm sure everything is fine but I'm starting to freak out a little bit and just looking for some encouraging words.  I keep getting little twinges of pain and every little sensation is making me nervous!!  I know I need to calm down but I can't.

  • A little brown spotting is normal, but never hesitate to call your OB/MW to get the reassurance you need. They're the professionals. Smile Good luck to you.

  • I had a TON of brown blood with DS. It was all through my pregnancy at random times. Everything turned out great!

Remember, if you ever get worried, call your Dr and tell them to squeeze you in for a quick HB check. They're normally great about it.

  • If you read back through this board about 75% of the women on here, myself included, had spotting. Try not to freak, and just hear what your doc says.

  • Brown spotting is totally OK and even expected when you down a lot of physical activity.  Strangely, the only time I've had spotting was during my puke-fests, and I think that was from the strain on my body.  As other's have said - call your Dr if you need reassurance.
  • It's going to be ok, you will get through it and probably get to see a wonderful baby when you go to the doctor! I have even heard that women have had red spotting and have been ok. I know it is sooo hard, but just try to breathe and think good thoughts about that baby growing and getting stronger! Good luck!
