1st Trimester

Low progesterone

I got a call from my OB.  They did bloodwork at my visit this morning after I went in to discuss the cramping and slight spotting.  It turns out I have a low progesterone level and need to take vaginal suppositories throughout the rest of the first trimester.  She said that if the HCG levels had not been so good and my u/s had not looked as great she would be very worried.  I could just have a deficiency with this pg and she wasn't taking any chances.  After posting on 6-12 I found out that it is rather common though left untreated could result in some scary stuff in re: to losing the pg.  I just wanted to share with you ladies.  My symptoms again was the severe cramping, back pain and spotting.  All of these are common in "normal" pg as well so don't panic.  LOL  Remember, google is your friend and if you are EVER worried about a symptom of your pg call your OB.  I am so so so glad I pressed the issue with her and had everything checked out.  She said I have a good 2 weeks up on the girls who wait and don't call.

Re: Low progesterone

  • My doc makes me take progestronge suppositores reguardless up to 10 weeks to make sure nothing happens. I hate them... detest them with a passion..

  • I saw that over on 6-12, but I wanted to post here.

My aunt had 4 kids (on her 5th now) and she had low Proesterone with  her middle two and the last one. She's on medication as well. They are all doing great and I'm sure you will have a wonderful beautiful baby as well!

    T&P to you hun!
