I still haven't started my registries! I have one at Target and one at BRU, but I haven't done anything since I signed up for them! This may sound awful, but I'm just so overwhelmed by them that I have no clue what to do... I don't know what items are a have-to-have, nice-to-have, or even want-to-have right now! This is my first, and this registry stuff is making me feel like a bad mommy. I go to BRU's website and I have no clue where to start. Does anyone have any helpful sites that may have a list of stuff that is sorted by needs/wants?
I live out of state from all my family and friends or I would make them help me... and of course, I know the big things I want, but all the little stuff is hard.
Sorry to bother you ladies...
Re: I Still Haven't
On the BRU site they have a "must-haves" list. I used that as a guideline, skipping the stuff that I thought was ridiculous. (Which was a decent chunk( If I had a question I emailed some of my girlfriends who are already moms for their two cents.
I looked up a lot in the Baby Bargains book, too.

at 13 weeks and you're worried about this? You have plenty of time.
I haven't started or even thoguht about it yet.
I don't plan on starting until after Christmas, which will be around 20 weeks. No rush!
I wouldn't call it slacking by this point. By your ticker, you're in the 13th week - you still have plenty of time to start the registry. (I haven't started yet either, if that's any consolation.)
Really, nothing beats the advice of experienced moms as to what products are really helpful (and I mean recent moms - I'm sorry to my mother, but the last time she bought and used baby products was 25 years ago with my youngest sister!) They can help you sort out what's really important/useful/just plain fun to have.
you still have some time to sort it all out...
feel free to look at mine if you'd like to... i've had my friends go through and edit/make additions, etc.

ditto....both of these.
Don't worry! You have plenty of time, like most of the other ladies, I haven't registered either.
I do recommend the Baby Bargains book- I have found it very helpful for research on nursery items, strollers, carseats.
I didn't think anyone started as early as 13 weeks...
I probably won't do it until awhile after Christmas (when I feel like it's safe to return the store!) when I'm around 26ish weeks
I haven't even told some of my friends that live out of state that I'm pregnant (thought it'd be nicer to do in person, since I live near their parents' hometowns...)
Thanks a bunch ladies! I guess it is just the OCD in me...
Plus, that is pretty much all my family and friends will have to go by, so I freak out about it. I won't even be actually present at my own shower from my family (we are doing it over Skype and my mom is sending all my stuff to me afterwards). We won't see any of our family members until a while after our LO is born. We live in California now and are moving to Hawaii next month and our families are in Missouri and Tennessee. Our families aren't very happy about not getting to be with us for our first pregnancy and baby, but the military is the military...
We didn't start our registry until 20 weeks, so, you're certainly not falling behind or anything!
I read the book Baby Bargains and that helped me decide what we'll really need. BRU will give you a registry checklist but, IMO, there's a lot of crap on there you don't need.
Yes you're early...but it seems just like yesterday I was 13wks...it will go by fast. SO here is a quick rundown of my personal must haves
Musts
*Crib/matress/bedding
*dresser
*changing table ( if you want one)
*Bassinet/pack N play ( i say pack n play, you will use it longer)
*carseat
*stroller ( I say travel system)
* bottles of choice ( I used avent and playtex drop ins, they were good)
* breastpump ( if breastfeeding)
*nursing pillow( if breastfeeding)
* Lots of burp clothes
*lots of bibs
* washclothes
* infant tub
* lots of onsies
* pacifiers ( if using them, my DD hated them)
* sun hats/bonnets ( esp if its sunny and warm in your area)
* bouncy seat/swing ( my DD hated her swing and bouncy seat, but tis nice to have a place to put babies down)
* nursing wrap ( if breastfeeding)
* baby grooming kit
*socks
* little booties
*high chair ( from 6 mos on)
*diaper bag
* PJ's
*bottle brush
Nice to haves
* baby sling ( my DD LOVED this...)
* swing
* swaddler blanket
* bottle warmer
* hooded towels ( reg towels work fine too....)
* bumbo/or other sitting device
* drying rack for bottles
Thats jsut off the top of my heard from what I can remember. Different equipment works for different babies ( my DD hated her swing...but she loved her sling/carrier, other babies LOVE their swing and mothers swear by them...you jsut have to try things until you find something baby likes) Google Layette lists, some good lists will come up!
This and you still have time. You are only 13 or 14 weeks. Don't fret.
you have lots of time!! plus when you go to register at BRU they give you a list of things you need to register for so at least you have that. if you google list of items for registry tons will pop up.
relax, and enjoy the start of of your 2nd trimester!
Someone who has moved onto the 3rd Tri had posted these websites a long time ago. I think they are a great place to start if you are looking for a beginning point to dive into the sea of information that is out there.

I'm due in April and haven't started mine-- not even signed up for them. I might put a few things on before Christmas, just in case people want to get stuff for that, but I think you have PLENTY of time.
