If you had your choice would you want a boy or a girl

I know we are all just praying for a healthy and happy little one but if you had your choice would you want a boy or a girl.

I have to say I have a DD right now.  She s the best thing in the world and I am very close with my two sisters so I always wanted for her to have a sister.  She will be almost 4 years older then this baby.

Dh really wants a boy but I don't know I guess I am worried about the unknown because I have never had a boy at least i know sort of what to expect from a girl (I know every child is different)

I am really hoping for another girl

Re: If you had your choice would you want a boy or a girl

  • Honestly, I wouldn't want a choice. I like not knowing, and unable to control it. There are very few happy/good surprises left in life...I like that this can be one.

    (sorry if that's a cop-out answer.) :)

  • We have our DS and I really want a DD but honestly, I wouldn't be upset if we had another boy. DH will be happy.

We decided that if we biologically did not have a girl, we'd try adoption. I've always wanted at least one of each and I have always wanted to adopt at least one.

  • I don't really care.  So probably a boy.  B/c that is what DH wants.

  • a big part of me says girl...the one that wants to watch Tinkerbell movies with her and play dress up and make her feel like a princess everyday.

then another part says boy...I went to a psychic medium in February to reconnect with my Dad, and she said that he was standing there holding my son, who would come to us in 8 months. 8 months later, we found out I was pg. Weird...just waiting to see if it's true. (and it's feeding into the "I bet it's a girl" thing as well cause I don't really believe in psychics)

  • I've always wanted a little girl, but DH is one of 5 boys, and all the grandchildren are boys, so I'm pretty positive it isn't going to happen.

  • DH and I both are hoping for a boy.  We have 4 nieces, and the 3 couples we're friends with that have kids all have girls (4 girls total).  I think it would be awesome to have the only little man. :)

That being said, I do have a great relationship with my mom so I would be excited about a girl to have that relationship with.

  • I am one of two girls with a boatload of female cousins. I would love to have a boy, so my next kids could have the big brother I never had. If I had a girl though, I would be thrilled, since I'm so close to my mom, it would be nice to have that as well. whatever...as long as my little baby is healthy and happy, that's all that matters!
  • I'm kinda leaning towards a boy. My parents don't have a grandson and we'd like to have a son as our first child before we have a daughter. However either way, we'd be happy. We're team green and not finding out so we'll know when our bean comes!
  • I want a girl and DH wants a boy.

I guess I do hope its a boy too though bc this pregnancy happened earlier than we planned and DH is quite the nervous dad-to-be. A boy would ease his worries and he'd be even more excited to have a DS. Does that make any sense?

  • I'm kind of torn.  I have 2 boys from a previous relationship and I've always wanted a little girl.  DH has a daughter from a previous marriage, so in a way I have a little girl, but I don't get to do all the mother/daughter stuff with her because that is reserved for her mom.  So I do really want my own little girl.  But at the same time, I know DH really wants a boy because he already has his little girl.  He wants a a little boy that he can do all the father/son stuff with.  (My boys are 16 and 15 years old, so they don't really do the father/son stuff at this point.)  So I'm torn.  I will be happy with either.  :)
  • I would love a girl so that we can play dress up and I can do the room in pink and just have an adorable daughter, but I am kinda hoping it's a boy first so that when we do have a girl she will have an older brother, b/c I had 2 older brothers growing up and can't imagine it any other way. My husband wants a boy just b/c he is terrified of girls! LOL!

  • Either...but I know that if we have a boy first the chances of having a girl the next time is slim...to much testosterone in DH's family....

So secretly hoping for a girl firstAngel

  • While we want both genders ultimately, for the first we'd both like a boy. I am fairly certain we won't find out until delivery though so we shall see what happens!

  • BOY!  DH and I both desperately want a boy.  I'm more into dirtbikes and hockey than Tinkerbell and dress up, and I would have no idea what the hell to do with a "girly" girl.

  • Girl!

Both DH and I want a girl first, although we hate admitting it.  We both think we'd be quite pleased with a boy too.  I get really annoyed with people (no one here, just people in general) who think girls are hard?  Since when?  I had two younger brothers and my parents always talk (perhaps too much) that I was by far the easiest to raise and most responsible of their offspring.

Boys have their pluses, but I was the oldest in my family, and DH has an older sister.  We generally like the dynamic.

  • Girl. I'm embarassed to have a preference. Embarrassed

  • I already have a boy so I am hoping for a little girl with this pregnancy.
  • I'm really not sure....but after having 4 girls, I guess it's time for a boy?!
  • For the longest time I wanted a girl, I only have 1 sister and have a great relationship with my mom.  Then I think boy because of the "teenage" years.  DH thinks it's a girl and that would be great because it's the first biological grand daughter on his side (first on mine) and he says he's always been different!
