I REALLY want to go ahead and schedule my big u/s. My Drs office doesn't have a u/s machine so I have to go off-site. I know where they'll send me. The problem is that I don't have the actual referral paperwork.
My next appointment isn't until Dec. 7. I want to schedule it for Dec. 16 (my 30th b-day). I'll be 18w1d at that point. The will do the u/s anytime between 18 and 20 weeks. I'm afraid if I wait to do it the day that I get the paperwork, they'll be booked.
So, would it be bad to go ahead and make the appointment even though I don't have the actual paperwork with the referral?
Re: Scheduling big u/s. WWYD?
I would just call you OB's office and ask for the paperwork so you can book the appt.
The U/S place most likely would not book you anyway without the paperwork.

They'll book without. You just need to have it in-hand the day of the appointment.
I guess it depends on the place. I had my appt on Nov 11 and my big U/S on Nov 16. We scheduled it on the 11. They weren't booked. I know my doc wouldn't let me schedule it ahead because she wanted to see me first to check everything. Then she referred me.

With #1, I scheduled the big u/s before I had the referral script for that exact reason. I wanted a specific date for the u/s so I just scheduled it, got the script at my next appt, and brought it with me to the appt.
Don't tell the u/s place that you don't have the script yet b/c they may not schedule it. If they ask for a faxed referral, then call your doc's office and have them send it.

Ditto this. You usually make apts over the phone and they wouldn't (obviously) be able to see paperwork at that point anyway. I'd book your time/date (or at least try.......couldn't hurt!!) and then go about getting the paperwork becuase those apts IME fill up fast.
