  • whats your biggest fear? is this your first?
  • This is my first.  I haven't been able to identify my biggest fear yet, just the whole thing scares me.  Giving birth, taking care of a newborn, raising a child, dealing with a teenager, and if I'll be any good at any of it.  Wondering what kind of person she'll turn out to be, and if my best will be enough.

  • yea thats how i feel... and since its just going to be me and baby.. im going crazy right now.. cause im just so nervous that im going to be bad at this..
  • Do you have a strong support system?  You won't be bad at this, I kinda feel like it's something that it's hard to be bad at.  I'm sure we'll both be fine!  And we'll always have the lovely ladies of thebump for support and to answer questions (as long as they're not stupid questionsSmile)

  • lols... yea no stupid questions allowed..

as for a support system.. no.. because i dont really like how most people in my family raised their children so im doing this all blind...

  • my mother wasnt a good mother... and still isnt.. my grandmother wasnt a good mother to her children.. and my aunts are druggies and alcoholics.. i dont trust their opinions on anything.. the only person i trust with any kind of parenting is my ex's mom.... she is the best mother figure i have ever known.
  • Oh, I see now.  Do you have any friends mothers you can go to for advice and support?  How much is your ex still in your life?  It would be nice if you could still have a relationship with his mom while maintaining a strictly co-parenting relationship with him.

  • Right now the only time i see him is when he takes me to my appts. and when we have lunch which is everyday..

We are trying to start over but from the friend stage.

And i have a great relationship with his mother. I invited his whole family over for thanksgiving. His sister (she's 15) is going to help me cook the whole dinner.. she is so excited...And i just live a block or two away so yea..

  • I am freaking out too!
  • Definately terrified. Fiance says, with a boy, you only have one penis to worry about. With a girl, you have to worry about a lot of penises (sp?). LMAO. His response when the tech said "It's a girl!" was "Well now I need more shot gun shells." AHAHAHA such a dad

Oh and I am terrified. I didn't give my mom trouble. I was a bit sarcastic every  now and again. But still. Being responsible for someone else's life. One day at a time I keep saying.

And we will ALL be fantastic moms!!

  • I get super excited and then start to think holy crap this little life is going to be 100% reliant on me to make every decision for them.  It makes me freak out but that is just normal part of being a mom.  We will all be great mothers.
  • When I found out we were having a boy I totally flew past babyhood, childhood, teenager to, oh no, he's going to get married and leave me one day!  Clearly not emotional Wink
