tell me about gripe water burps

i've never tried it. do you give it to LO after he has the hiccups? does it help them burp?

we have this problem - Andrew always always always has to burp.  we can burp him a handful of times, but there's always more.  It's so annoying.  An when he has to burp he won't eat or sleep, he just screams.  I've been trying to f-ing feed him and burp him since 2:00, and now my boobs hurt because I need to pump.

WHY is he SO burpy and why won't he let the burp come out?!  help me!

Indifferent

trying to see if the playtex drop-ins help but the first try failed as the milk didn't come out - I'm going to try cutitng the Y-cut nipple to see if that helps.

we use Dr. Brown's.

  • I have never using the gripe water but I think I remember Triciajoy saying she always used it for Robbie when he had the hiccup and she gave it to him as soon as he got them. Hopefully she still around here :)

  • We use Gripe Water for hiccups a lot.  We give it to Zander after gets them.  His hiccups go away almost immediately (within a minute, usually seconds).  We've never had to give the full dose either.  He usually only needs 1/2 the dose.  Gripe Water has never worked for gas with us although it says it does on the bottle.  Mylicon is the only thing that ever helps with that.

Good luck!  It's worth a try at least.  Zander is not a fan of burping either and lately he's resorted to screaming which then makes him hold the burp in.  ((hugs))

  • we go through a ton of it for hiccups. Hiccups= puking in our house, so as soon as you hear "hic" we go running. We give him about 2ml (which isn't even close to a full dose) and they're cured w/in 30 seconds. Maybe one in 50 times, I'll have to give him another 2ml to get rid of them, but that's it.

I can't really answer the burping question. Robbie had a fundoplication back in the NICU and he only burps about twice a week. He's not supposed to be able to puke either, but somehow it holds the air in, but not the vomit. Lucky us. ::eyeroll::
