Old Navy/Gap maternity pants question

I need to order maternity pants and was looking online at Gap/Old Navy but I noticed they have several different styles (full panel, roll down, real waste, etc.).  Would any of you suggest any one kind over another?  Sorry if this is a stupid question, thanks!

Re: Old Navy/Gap maternity pants question

  • I like the kind that's full panel (doesnt sit below your belly but over it);  both pregnancies the babies reacted strongly to having anything below my belly

  • I much prefer the full panel.

  • I myself cannot stand full panel pants.I would try the roll down.
  • All my maternity pants from DS were from the GAP (since they have the long lenth). I only wore the demi-panel style (wasn't keen on the full panel) and it lasted me through my whole pregnancy. The real-waist I think you're limited to the earlier part of your pregnany, one you get big enough I'm not sure these would work anymore.

    Never tried the roll panel.

  • I prefer the full panel.  The ones that are low feel like they are going to fall off... I'm sure it's a personal preference though.

  • I have two pair of Gap demi panel, and I like them so far. But I expect that further along in pregnancy, I'll be more comfortable in a full panel.

Just a tip: I got both pair of "like new" Gap maternity jeans on eBay for $15/ea.

  • Right now I like Old Navy's Real Waist pants. They have buttons and elastic inside the waist. You can adjust it. RIght now I have it on the tightest setting but I can let it out over time when I get bigger. I also have a pair of full panel jeans (though they are from Target). I like them too, and I can fold the panel down so it's not so high.

  • Thanks everyone for the quick responses!  As I sit at my desk typing my pants are fully unzipped (thankfully I have a bella band!) so I think it's time to move on maternity pantsSmile

MellsBells - thanks, I'll try Ebay!

  • see if there are any consignment shops in your area that carry maternity; mine does and I havent paid more than $10 for a pr of jeans.....and they are already preshrunk and broken in :-)

  • I like the full panel ones because I have been able to wear them longer than the demi panel (lays under belly).  I'm carrying the baby very low so the bump isn't going over the panel like I thought it would.  It's pushing out and therefore pushing into the waistband making it very uncomfortable.  Although, today I am wearing a pair of real waist maternity pants and they are so much more comfy than the demi panel ones.
  • nope, not a stupid question! I asked the same thing last month  :)

I'm not showing too much yet, but right now I LOVE the demi-panel ones for my small bump  :)  I'll probably try the full panel later on in my pregnancy ...

  • I just bought the demi panel style and really like it.  I'm not even 18 weeks, so I don't know how I'll feel later on, but right now, they're so comfy.  I also found that if my belly gets too big, I can easily fold down this panel and have it sit below my stomach.

  • I like the kind that is mid panel....I think that is what gap calls it.  I also like my gap pants over the old navy even though old navy was cheaper.  The full panel are ok...I guess I am not big enough for them to like them yet!
  • I have a couple of demi-panel and a couple of roll panel ones, and like them all. The demi is starting to get a little uncomfortable as I get bigger, because it pushes into my belly a bit, so I'm not sure if they'll last me the whole pregnancy.
