Ball pit - who has one?? Or thoughts on one?

And will I regret this??  MIL bought DS a bag of like 100 of those balls that go in a ball pit (just the balls) and I'm thinking what are we supposed to do with those??  We did some Christmas shopping over the weekend and ended up getting a ball pit that we plan on using inside.  But I keep thinking I'm setting myself up for lots of balls everywhere and more clean up.  I think the kids would love it but I'm not so sure about it anymore.

What else could I do with all those balls??  Something for outside in the summer maybe??

Ughh - any input??

    We have one, and it is great.  My dd loves to play in it.  Yes, the balls do go everywhere and make a mess, but between dd and I we can clean them up in just a few minutes.  If she doesn't help clean them up, then I put it away, so it's not a huge problem.

    Sounds like a huge mess to me. I would let her keep the balls at her house for when the kids visit.

    J - when did you start letting Rory play in it? We are at a loss as to what to get Jack for Christmas. The kid is already walking by pushing a walker across the floor and climbing stairs, so I'm thinking he would probably do OK in one of the ball pit things. AND, I'm sure M would love it too.

    We have a ball pit in our playroom that DD got on her first birthday.  I can honestly say it has been played with every. single. day. in the last almost 3 years.  It is such a HUGE hit with the kids.  It drives me absolutely insane because it is big and the balls get everywhere, but I can't bring myself to put it away or get rid of it because the kids love it so much.

    For outside, you could fill one of those plastic swimming pools with all the balls.

    Our was from TRU, but they don't carry it anymore.  It looks like a big circus tent with 4 pillars and a roof.  It's simple - no tunnels, tubes or anything.  It went on sale around Christmas for 19.99 I believe, and it's plenty big enough.

    If I'm remembering correctly, we got it for her right around her second winter, so she would have been about 1.5 then.  Someone had actually given her a small inflatable swimming pool for her birthday that year, and since we already had one, we didn't use it that summer, so instead we filled it with the balls for the winter.  Worked perfectly!

    And I have to admit that one of our favorite activities was where I would sit in the ball pit myself, and throw balls out and then she'd chase them down and bring them back.  Just like throwing a ball for a dog! Smile  It was fun!
