I mentioned to DH that the first time homeowner credit was extended into next year.  He said that he had some questions about it and wanted to do some reading on it.  So I sent him a link to an article from the Wall Street Journal on it this morning.

He just replied to my email and he wants to talk tonight and look at our finances and see if maybe we could move up our house hunting dates to take advantage of the tax credit.

You kinda have to know my DH and his anxiety about home ownership  to understand, but this is HUGE news.  Eek!

DH was so hesitant t first for us as well, convinced that there's no way we could ever do it.  But we sat down, figured it out, and now we've have our house for over a year.

Way to come around Armando!  That's exciting news!  I wish we could go house hunting!

(backstory: we own our house. Bought the house we were renting from my parents.  I HATE the house, but we didn't think we could get anything else at the time.)

We rent too and were supposed to be in a house before the original credit expired and our lease is up (12/1).

Well, since DH was laid-off in August (he has since found another FT job), that ship sailed and we are going to have to renew our lease.

I'm so happy they extended the credit since that means we will probably be able to use it by next year too! ;-)

DH was hesitant at first, but we have been in the house and only just now have struggled some with the payment.  But only because I took on a car payment and had to figure out where to cut back. 

But then I got a raise at work and it covers the car payment so yay. 

The tax credit is awesome.  My sis got it and it helped her pay for a fence and some other stuff.  We got 7500, but it has to be paid back over 15 years (come out of taxes).  Still worth it because we could pay off our cc debt with it.  But I wish we had qualified for the new tax credit.

That's super exciting! House hunting is stressfull, but fun--and it's worth it to have your own place in the end.

We didn't qualify for the first credit since DH has had this house for years, but we do qualify under the new credit. We may be househunting too in the near future.
