it's definitely not too early ) and it's completely stressful! we ended up going with a private person but we liked this place for dd https://www.busybeeschildcare.com/ good luck
no problem... we actually used craigslist. we did a criminal background check and we really were lucky b/c the woman we used was coincidentally from where i grew up and she was good friends with someone i know. she started doing a few hours a day for 2 weeks before i went back to work so that she made sure she liked it and i made sure our ideals were similar. whatever route you decide to go, just be sure to figure out what you want in a caregiver in terms of communication, expectations, etc. if you need any help or suggestions, please let me know. also don't feel like you are stuck with a certain person or situation, my bff changed her daycare/nanny situation 3 times in one year and now she's had the same person for 7 years.
my brother and sil used sittercity.com but they have 3 kids under 2 y/o and my sil's mom was there with the person. another friend used the philly nanny network but be warned they are like $4,000 just to find someone for you, which was not in our budget.
