Any crazy Black Friday stories?

I've never been, but I just picture total chaos. I love a good deal, but I just can't get into Black Friday. Tell me your crazy stories, and remind me why I don't go :)

Re: Any crazy Black Friday stories?

  • not a crazy story but I made DH stay with me in a tent at Best Buy once, and we still didn't get the good deal.  We were too far back in line.  So I don't do the all nighter anymore, but my mom and I are pretty serious about it.  We go with a few other girls, have walkie talkies and divide and concur!  It is so much fun!!

  • One year I was standing in line for Fred Meyer's. When they opened the door a bunch of people starting running in. Two ladies both with small kids in the cart stopped shortly after entering. One ladies started punching the other lady. I guess she had ran her cart into the other ladie's foot. The security guard stepped in between them. What a great example for their kids.

  • When DS was a baby my mom and I went to a BF deal at walmart. They were having an awesome sale on trampolines and there were people lined up from layaway all the way out the fornt door. Well the anouncment came out that there were only 37 trampolines. Yeah it got crazy. People were screaming and yelling and the cops got called because 2 guys were throwing hammers at each other in the layaway dept.

    I love a sale...but damn_!

  • Mine is from when I was a manager at Old Navy. I showed up at 4am to let my employees in to prep for our 5am opening. Some big dude thought I was line jumping (as if I'd be out there at 4am for fleece. No.) and threatened to beat the crap out of me.

I informed him I worked there and I didn't take threats like that lightly. The police ended up asking him to leave and told him that he he attempted to come back he'd be charged with tresspassing.

  • All of the above is why I shop online.
  • I worked retail in college and wanted to work the early morning black friday shift -- just for the experience. Laptops and some toy were hot items that year. I worked in jewelry and my department was in the back of the store. I just remember the sound of the herd running down the aisle to get to electronics. They were pushing each other and yelling. I went out into the aisle to see, but when I saw them coming, I ran back behind my jewelry counter. True story.

  • I was the manager at a certain lotion store that is very popular, our store opened at Midnight on black friday we had a doorbuster with a limit 10  per person. We had a woman CRY because we wouldn't let her buy more. Really lady. It's a wallflower.
