My dad was a Vietnam Vet. This day makes me think of him perhaps more than any other during the year. This day is the reason I know all the words to Walking on a Thin Line and Goodnight Ms. Saigon. This day is why I know that they used to smoke their filterless cigarettes backwards to smoke off the label. This day is a day when I miss my dad very, very much.
Re: Anyone else thinking of their Daddys today?
I'm sorry you no longer have your dad with you here.
I always think of my grandpa, who was a fighter pilot. He flew spitfires in WW2 for both the US and Canadian Air Force. He was an American who joined the Canadian airforce before the U.S. entered the war b/c he felt so strongly about the cause. He was an amazing man and I miss him too.
