Need an excuse...

...for why I'm not drinking at a friend's birthday dinner on Fri / why I can't go out on the town post-dinner. I am 6 weeks today, so obviously, said friend (or anyone else, aside from our immediate family) is 'in the know' about my delicate condition.

I used the stomach bug excuse with this same friend last weekend, so I don't know how well that would hold up again.

I used the stomach bug excuse myself. I might just extend that lil white lie...and may say you're on an antibiotic/medicine for it. And add on that you had a glass of wine with dinner the other night and were a complete sloppy mess. I'm a whiz with excuses on the spot.

Maybe say that you went to the Dr. and they put you on antibiotics?  antibiotics and alcohol don't mix well...  so there's an instant excuse, and if you told her you were feeling ill last week then it will work even better.

or you can get up to go to the bathroom and order a "drink" from the bar on the way back.??

We were in the same spot on Halloween.... DH and I put our drinks next to each other, and he would sip from mine and his all night. Needless to say I was DD, and he was really drunk but noone noticed the swap. Way to take one for the team!
