Car Seat Help!

My LO is getting ready to have his car seat challenge & I don't know what car seat we need.

We all ready have a Graco Infant Safeseat, installed in the car, but I was told that it might not work right now for him. He is now weighing in at 5lbs 2oz. When I asked the nurse what kind of car seat I needed to get, she told me one that was for 4lbs & up. Our Safeseat says it is for 5lbs-22lbs.

I just want to know what you ladies used when bringing your LO's home?

We used a SafeSeat, but he was 7lbs when he came home...

Chicco Keyfit30  and Brendan came home at just under 5 pounds

if the seat is rated from 5lb and he's 5lb, I woudln't worry about it.

Robbie came home at 4 1/2 lb in his snugride, which is rated from 5lb. They were able to fit him into it.

We used The Graco Sungride and or littlest guy was only 3.9lbs. he did very well in it, and passed his car seat test with no problems. The only thing we need to do was roll up a diaper to support his crotch area a bit better.

graco snugride.  DS was 5.7lbs. and it worked perfectly.

Graco Snugride.  DS was 5 pounds even and we had no problems.

Robbie came home at 4 1/2 lb in his snugride, which is rated from 5lb. They were able to fit him into it.

this is what we used too.  I brought 2 babies under 6 lbs home in a snugride and both passed with flying colors!

We used a regular Graco Snugride.  The nurses in the NICU showed me how to place rolled up receiving blankets in areas where DD needed more support.  She was 4lbs 11oz at birth and 6lbs when she was discharged from the NICU.

Another vote for Graco snugride.

We used a Snugride that's for 5lbs. and up, but they both passed their car seat tests in them and they came home under 5lbs...  like 4lbs.11oz. each.

We used the snugride as well. DS was 6lbs 2oz when he came home.

We used the Safeseat but DS was 8 lbs.

If he can pass the carseat study in your current Safeseat, then you're safe to take him home using that seat.  If he struggles, you may need to find a smaller carseat that fits him better. 

Also, the nurses should show you how to roll up blankets on either side of him for additional support.

my DS was under 5lbs when he went home and the hospital made us get a Chicco b/c it starts at 4lbs.  they wouldn't even try him in the Graco.  if he is over 5lbs though I would think he'll pass no problem!
