Lotions/oils?

I've been thinking about what lotions/oils to use for when I start to expand :) Has anyone heard good reviews or had a good experience themselves? Also, how often should it be applied?

Re: Lotions/oils?

  • Last time I used the Burts Bee's Mama Bee Belly Butter.  It felt nice when my belly was itchy.  I don't have any stretch marks.  But I have always heard that getting stretch marks is more of a herditary thing, so if your mom got them you are more likely to get them.  So apparently, my mom and I are lucky!

  • Yeah, they are hereditary. While you cant do anything to prevent them you can try to minimize them by moisturizing!
  • I have a friend who swears by bath & Body works body butter... i bought some over the weekend and am IN LOVE!! I started using it now just so i get in the habit of it =)  Plus it makes my skin feel sooo good

  • I originally got Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion & balm.  BUT I couldn't stand the smell of it.  It made me more nauseus than I already am.  So this weekend I tried again & got Body Shop's Body Butter.  I got the Olive scent.  Super low-key, refreshing smell.  They had like 12 scents though.  I've read to put whatever you are using on morning & night on the belly, side of belly, hips, boobs, anywhere that will get bigger/stretch during pregnancy.

  • I used the Burt's Bees belly butter for awhile with my first and after I ran out I just used Vitamin e oil. I still got a few stretch marks on my love handle area but none on my belly. I think stretch marks are hereditary, but it made me feel better to use something.

  • "Bio-oil" Get it at Target in the first aid isle start using it ASAP if you wait until you get big your skin will get stretch marks. I used coco butter with first and still got a stretch mark ( only one but it is big)   I used this oil when I had my 3 other babies and did not get any more :)

My dermatologist said that if start before your are pregnant is best or as soon as you find out since they can happen over night

    Good luck

  • I've heard the Palmer's Tummy Butter and Lotion is good so I have a bottle of that... but after what I've been reading I think I may check out the Bath and Body works stuff.

  • Thank you everyone for your responses, I will be picking something up soon, it's really nice to know what others are using. I will keep my eye out for the body butters and the Bio-oil (although I'll have to find it else where b/c Canada doesn't have Target sadly!). Thanks again!
