what do you think of this bedding & room decor advice

dd has cherry furniture.  Do you think this would look okay with cherry furniture?  Would you get the matching stripe curtains or go with a solid (if solid, what color)?  What color/s would you paint the room?  Do you have any wall decor suggestions?  Fwiw we have white trim, door, and closet and won't change that, carpet is tan.  I want to be fun and cute and kind of girly but not gaudy and preferably something we won't necessarily need to change over time.

  • I think it's adorable. You could do a light pink on the walls or a pale blue. Is the room large or small? I'd go matching stripe if they aren't too close to the actual bed.  Very cute! I think you'll have a lot of fun with decorating!

  • It's cute, but I avoid 180 thread count sheets like the plague. They pill and don't hold up. Since you mention "not changing over time", I would invest in a slightly higher quality bedding. Not PBK expensive, though.

This quilt and shams are $39.99 on Overstock:

I got DS bedding there and was REALLY pleased with the quality.

  • Lari - that's adorable! I never thought to look there when I bought DD's. I got hers at Target which I think is cute but I had such a hard time for awhile.

  • I think the bedding is cute, but I don't know that I'd like that bright pink with the cherry furniture. I'd go with more softer colors.  Have you tried Target or JcPenney?
  • This one is $60 for the quilt and shams:

I think this would look beautiful with cherry furniture!  With long white sheer curtains, and a butter yellow on the walls.

But this is a totally different style than the one in the op.

  • I know, but since you mentioned softer colors, I thought it might be a good possibility.

$72 for quilt, bedskirt, sham and pillow:

  • Its cute but I'm not sure how it would look with the cherry furniture. Although I've had a friend who bought her kids bedding from Wal-Mart and it fell apart on all of them, I suggest you invest a little more for a higher quality bedding, especially if you plan on using it for a long time. Target usually has really cute, good quality bedding for a decent price. But if its the bedding you're set on I would paint the walls light blue and use a solid color curtain (more stripes would be too much) and I'd just pick one of the colors out of the bedding, maybe the pink or green. As for accessories I'd just buy things with the colors of the bedding.
  • I like the walmart one.  It is probably a toss-up whether it will last or not.  I would probably keep looking for something a little higher quality if you are going to paint and get curtains to match it- you don't want to go through all that again in a few years if it falls apart.

I think the colors would look fine with cherry furniture.  I tend to prefer pastels more but that is just personal preference.  I would do solid color curtains.

  • thanks for the suggestions and advice.  I do really like this bedding, I also like some of the others posted.  I think I want to stay away from all pink or all one color though.  The Walmart bedding had 800 reviews and although I didn't read them all I did read quite a few pages and it has a 5 star rating.  For the price if it falls apart in a few years we'll be okay with getting something else.  I am certainly open to more suggestions for both room decor and bedding though. Pips are great, thanks so much.

  • I'd get the cheap bedding, FWIW, just because if it gets torn or stained you can replace it without feeling like you wasted a bunch of money. Aso for the other stuff. . .

on the walls I'd do a pretty turqoise to stand out against the white trim and cherry furniture (which I would like with that bedding)

For curtains, I'd do plain white panels, maybe sheers?  Nor more stripes though.  I'm sort of picturing long white panels with ribbon trim along the bottom in the drak pink, yellow and turquoise

Maybe for wall decor do dots on the wall, couple different sizes betwen six and ten inches in diameter, painted in high gloss paint to match the colors in the bedding and mounted proud of the wall an inch or so.
