1st Trimester

At what point did you contact your doctor about m/s?

My m/s has gotten progressively worse over the past few days.  I've tried getting more sleep.  I have on seabands, but I don't know how much they are actually helping.  I've tried eating crackers before getting out of bed, only to throw them up less than 10 minutes later.  I've tried Sour Patch Kids (help slightly), Jolly Ranchers, eating small amounts every couple of hours.

At what point did you contact your doctor for medications or other types of relief?

  • I told them at my first appointment (8 weeks) and they put me on Zofran.

Peppermint tea helped take the edge off a bit, as well as anything with ginger.

  • When I made my first appt. I did not feel nauseated at all, but I remember feeling awful with my son so I thought I might bring it up....well, by the time I got to my appt. I WAS feeling bad, but only had been for about 2 days.  He prescribed me something right off.  I would call and ask him for something.

  • If you've tried all this it may be time to talk to your OB. I think they'd recommend other things or try to get you on something to help ease the M/S!
  • When I could barely eat anything I finally went to the doc - the nausea was running my life and I hated it! I do feel a lot better on meds now, although the nausea/food aversions are still present (at a lesser degree of course)

  • I had spent the whole day throwing up and couldnt keep a single thing(including water)down.  The next day was my first appt at 8 weeks and we told him then.  He said when it comes an issue when you are throwing up and are not getting any nutrients to the baby than that becomes an issue.  So I was put on diclectin(sp?)
