1st Trimester

The scale MUST be broken...

b/c there's no way that I've gained 6 lbs since my BFP. I'm a pretty petite person so I don't fluctuate weight on a daily or weekly basis. Maybe a lb here or there but omg 6 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited to be pg and I realize that gaining weight is part of the package, I just don't think I should be gaining that much this early. Guess I need to cut down a bit...

Re: The scale MUST be broken...

  • I'll take your 6 pounds!! I lost 15 pounds due to my M/S (and that was before it became severe) and my doctor said I should "try" to gain it back, if I can.....

  • I'm right there with you!  At my first Dr. appointment I weighed 5 lbs more than before my BFP! AHHH!  I can't remember if this happened last time or not.  I guess our bodies need the extra weight?  I'm a pretty thin person so I keep telling myself I need the weight early! haha!
  • My scale says I'm the same weight but my docs scale says up 4.2 pounds. I'm pretty sure their scale is broken- I'm thinking about bringing mine in next time! Dont stress about it, I think it will all even out.

However I think I'm having a line backer!

  • Don't feel bad.  I'm up 7 lbs. Ack!  I think it's mostly b/c I haven't been working out at all due to m/s.  At least that's what I'm going with :)

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • I went up 5 and then came down again - I'm thinking it was the time of day I weighed myself plus gas/bloat?

  • a lot of it is probably water retention.  but with my first pg, i do remember gaining about 14 pounds during the first tri (and i only gained about 25-30 total).  i think it's because i always felt so nauseous unless i had something in my stomach.  so i was eating carbs all day long.  it will even out in the end.  enjoy this time when it's totally acceptable to gain wt:)
  • I was 4 lbs more at my first appt than I was with my BFP. I've always been petite too, but I think my weight was from quitting smoking all of a sudden. I've always heard that quitting will make you gain weight.

  • I've already gained five pounds, too, and I'm only in week 6!  Not to mention, since I'm overweight to begin with, I should only be gaining 15 to 20 total.  Oh geez....
  • I am so glad to see I am not the only one.  Up 6lbs and feeling really bloated at 5 weeks.
  • A lot is probably bloat rather than actual weight.

I'm only a week behind you, I've lost a pound, but my pants are often tight.  :-(  I am retaining fluid like gangbusters.

My mom lost 10 lbs each of her first trimesters.  Now that M/S and heartburn is here, I probably will lose more until I'm out of 1st tri around Xmas.

  • i was 105 before my BFP, and now, at almost 9w, i weigh 110. i attribute it to two things: 1, i'm severely constipated. what goes in hasn't been coming out. 2, i stopped all forms of exercise once i got my BFP, and i was an avid runner before then (ran 5 miles 2x/week and was on the elliptical 3x/week).
