That I have twins in my side of the family (great grandmother and great grandfather) and DH's dad is a twin as well as 3 sets of twin cousins. Will they do anything or just wait until 1st u/s. THANKS
Twins run in my family as well, ( brother and sister are, and my dad had a grand total of 4 sets on his side.) I did mention it early. My midwife listened to hear for 2 heartbeats, but said that the only true way would be at the ultrasound. Sometimes even when you listen for the heartbeat(s) the twins may group together.
There is nothing that they would tell you to do differently so just wait. Also just a side note, the only twins that matter are your side, not DH's since it is either your egg that splits OR you produce two eggs - neither has anything to do with DH. Also, generally the only twins that are considered to have any kind of genetic component are fraternal twins so if there are identical they usually don't count those since they are spontaneous.

Very true. ?I did a lot of research on this since I have fraternal twins on both my mom's and dad's side. ?It's true that DH has nothing to do with whether or not YOU have twins, however he can be a carrier for your children.?If you were to have a girl she would then have a strong chance of F. twins. ?If you have a boy he could then be a carrier of both your twin gene and DH's.
As for the Doc... it's on the?questionnaire, and if not you could mention it. ?I did, but I was also told my MS would be much worse (I don't really have any) and I'd probably be much bigger and gaining more weight.
When my doctor was getting ready to do an ultrasound he asked if I had twins in my family. He looked for two heartbeats, but he also said that twins really aren't a genetic thing. It really confused me that he would ask and then say that, but I didn't want to argue with the doctor.
Re: Should I tell my doc...
I had to fill out a family history questionnaire, this was asked.
I don't think the OB would do anything different even if they ran in your family. JMO!
