What is the deal!?

A friend on fb who is ku w/baby#3---she already has a little girl who is 3 and little boy who is 1.....is having ANOTHER baby shower!!!

What is the friggin' deal!? Am I missing this new trend or something?? I just don't think it's very tactful. I mean, I'm all for welcoming the new baby to the world---I know a girl in my church who did that---when the baby was 8 weeks old she had a "Welcome baby" brunch....and most people bought gifts, but it wasn't a "baby shower".....

Is this a new thing!? Am I missing something here??

    I totally agree here. You get one shower, people. No one needs to flaunt their fertility multiple times. So stupid. I boycot these additional showers.
    02/08 BFP resulted in m/c 4/10/08 (11 weeks)
    10/08 Clomid Cycle #1 = m/c 11/7/08 (6 weeks)
    03/09 Clomid Cycle #2 = BFN
    3 rounds of Femara + Ovidrel + IUI =BFN
    10/18/09 2nd Break Cycle (post HSG) before IVF #1 = BFP!

    The only times a second or third baby shower are appropriate are:

    A:  2nd or 3rd child is the opposite sex of  other children already in the family.

    B: Many years have passed since the birth of the last child..like at least 4yrs, because most people sitch baby stuff as soon as possible if they aren't planning on having anymore. But as we all know accidents happen and people change their minds.

    Shower for 3rd child =GREEDY

    People who care about you will get a gift for the 12th child!  No need to throw a shower.
