I SAH so there was never any reason for me to pump.What did you feed your baby after you stopped breastfeeding? As long as my supply holds up I want to make it to 1 year and then transition to whole milk. If it happens  before then, I will go to formula first then whole milk at 1 year.

DS self weaned around 9 months.  I went back to work at 6 wks so I pumped which meant he had to learn to take a bottle.  He did fine at first but then started refusing.  We switched DC providers after that and the new one was able to get him to take a bottle just fine.  When he weaned we used similac sensitive formula.

I gave up after 2 weeks. DS wasn't latching well, he was always hungry, and I'm not pleasant to be around when I don't get enough sleep. We supplemented with bottles a bit, then switched over entirely to Similac (regular). DS still ate like a maniac (the whole longer digestion with bottles thing was BS). Everybody was happy and healthy in the end. DH really enjoyed being able to take a greater role once we went to bottle feeding, and I appreciated the ability to get an entire night's sleep every other night!

I'll probably breastfeed in the beginning next time around, with no plans to do it for very long. It just didn't work for our family, and I don't think it will this time around either.

1) I breastfed my 1st for 15 months...stopped when PG with DD.  I breastfed my 2nd for 16 months.

2) I occasionally used bottles so that I had a little more freedom.

3)  Well they were toddlers, so they ate everything, just cut up into small pieces.

1.  8wks....I didn't produce.  I gave up because he was so angry and upset when I BF because he wasn't getting anything.  After BFing and then getting a bottle, I would pump.......then start that same routine all over again.  Not fun.

2. He got Similac right away at the hospital because he lost 1 lb before the nurses realized he wasn't getting ANYTHING from me.    So yes, he got bottles.

3. We went from Similac to whole milk.

1. DS was 13 months old when I weaned him.

2. Mostly BF, pumped and used bottles occasionally

3. He was eating "real" food by then, and he started to drink whole milk in a sippy cup for a drink.

I breastfed exclusively until 5 months.  I bottlefed & breastfed until 11 months.  Stopped BF-ing at 11 months because my supply was tanking.  After we stopped breastfeeding it took a bit of trial and error to find a formula that my baby could tolerate.  We wound up with a soy-based formula at first.  After a couple months, we were able to transition to a milk-based formula (Similac & Goodstart).
