TTC After a Loss

Do you still drink 'til its pink?

Before our loss, I drank in the 2ww - just a couple here and there. But now I am not so sure that I am as comfortable doing so. It's so hard living life around the what-ifs! I try to take my mom's word of encouragement - nothing can shake a healthy pregnancy, after all look at what some women still continue doing while pg. So what do you think?

Re: Do you still drink 'til its pink?

  • i say with as early as we all test around here it's cool to drink till it's pink.  the post below reminds me that not everyone tests as early as we do.  if you are going to wait 9 months or so to test then don't drink till it's pink.

  • I don't. I try not to drink much before Oing either, but this cycle I'm not doing so well with that.

  • I think I am going to avoid doing anything bad to my body this time around! Since, I haven't ovulated yet, I had a few drinks with dinner this past weekend, but once I O, I plan to stop!

  • Yep. My OB told me a glass of wine was OK while I was PG w/ DD and it's no different in the 2ww. The baby is way too small for it to even be affected by alcohol at that point.

      agreed!

I don't get out and get sloshed but I'll have a glass of wine or something

  • YUP! I do.. I have not gotten smashed in a LONG time so have no plans of doing that during 2ww, but personally the 2ww is very stressfull so a glass of wine hits the spot.
  • I don't, but I hardly drink at all anymore anyway.  So the 2ww is just another excuse not to drink.

  • I think it's fine w/in the normal waiting period---if you're a week or so late, and you're pretty sure u're ku and just "avoiding" knowing so that you can party---it's irresponisble, immature, and selfish----IMO.

  • I had a beer the night before I tested.  I knew it could be my last full Blue Moon for 9 months.  I also drank wine here and there during my pregnancy with DD1.  Not whole glasses, but 1/4-1/2 a glass on special occasions, all with my MW's blessing.

I don't get getting wasted the night before you test, but a beer or a glass of wine?  Fine, in my non-medical opinion.

  • Yeah, it helps me with that whole "don't stress about it and it will happen" train of thought...

  • I think if you're testing about the time that AF is due then why not drink until it's pink. I don't drink to get drunk, but the occassional glass of wine is fine in my opinion.

  • Hell yea.  I've had too many bfn's to not drink during the 2ww.  It only adds to the stress.

  • I drank in previous 2ww, but stopped once I got my CH this time.  I might have a glass of wine tomorrow night since we're going out to dinner with friends, but I'm erring on the side of caution this time.  I know this isn't fully logical b/c alcohol won't harm the embryo, but I'm abstaining nonetheless.
  • I do, I test early, and know that if it's that early nothing is passing onto the baby.

I also occasionally had a 1/2 glass of wine while pregnant, not too often though.

  • yes but normally only a glass or two tops in one night. otherwise i feel extremely guilty even though most of the time i pretty much know i'm going to get af.

  • Umm, yes. And I play soccer till it's pink. And I eat lunch meat after it's pink. Because obviously, none of these things matter.
