I love this recipe!  I make it exactly like this, but I also add potatoes.  I just made it on Halloween in the crockpot and my timeline was:

started it at 10 am, but left out the potatoes, carrots, and celery

added the veggies at noon

added the cornstarch/water for thickening at 4 pm

ate at 6 pm
