Hi! Nice to meet everyone!
My name's Aly, and my little man, Connor, was born exactly one month ago today. He was 27 weeks, 6 days - guess that's what I get for scheduling all those childbirth/rearing classes in preparation! He had to throw mommy & daddy for a loop!
I was lucky - spontaneous labor, with no complications. Connor was also lucky, as the hospital we were at has a fantastic NICU. I totally trust these folks, which is saying something coming from me.
The first four weeks were a little rough for us, as Connor's lungs didn't want to work too well. He spent a lot of time on the high frequency ventilator before stepping down. Being the obstinate little guy he is, he did it all in a non-standard way (so the Dr's say); that's my boy! But, he's doing a lot better now, and we're gradually upping his feedings, hoping to get his pic line out.
The other NICU parents there have been incredibly supportive, as has NotJustAnAuntie. I don't think we'd be managing this crazy waiting game nearly as well, if not for them!
(NotJustAnAuntie scolded me for merely lurking, after she'd been so sweet to introduce me. It was a lovely intro, dear; I'm just so happy with how thorough everyone is here, that I'd been caught up reading instead of posting!)
Anyway, I wanted to thank you all for such incredibly helpful posts! I've been deeply reassured, knowing that so many other people have walked the road I'm walking right now. Thank you!
Re: Hello, and Thank You!
welcome to the board! Congrats on your little man.. How is he doing now? Off the vent?
My LO never needed the jet, but he was on the vent for 5 weeks, so I know how the long-term thing sucks!
Hope he's progressing well.

welcome and congrats!!!
Andrew was onry too, and had to use the oscillator for a while. He was in the NICU a long time, but FWIW he is doing GREAT now and doens't require oxygen. I hope the best for your LO too, and that he's home with you very soon!
