check-in

There have been a lot of kiddos struggling with illness, reflux, and eating issues.  I thought maybe we could have a check-in to see how everyone is doing?

I hope all of your LO's are doing better!

Re: check-in

  • Andrew has been doing great overall.  Biggest hurtle: staying healthy and so far so good! *knocks on wood*

Something seems to be bothering him lately (teeth?? 2 just came in, but maybe there is a 3rd) and his reflux is seemingly worse. I don't know if the 2 are related.  We just increased his Prilosec and I'm hoping that helps. We see the GI dr next week.  After a strike during teething, he's eating solids again so that makes me happy!

All in all, I can't complain!

  • LO is off the bili light and we got a break from daily blood draws at the hospital, so that's good.!

LO is struggling with not choking while eating. She gets too excited, chokes, and  then sometimes doesn't want to start eating again for awhile. She sets off the apnea monitor when this happens so we shall see what the doctor says Tuesday on her 1 month appt...

  • Sadly we are exactly the same.

Olivia still doesn't want to swallow anything.  We are currently trying an appetite stimulator but it hasn't done anything yet.  Hopefully a new feeding therapist will help.

  • It depends on the day how the girls are doing. Health wise they fabulous, but we are still working on the eating part.

Reese is up to 6 bottles a day and Ella is at 3. There are days that they will finish the bottle and then some days they pretend like that have never sucked on a bottle (or breast).

They do still choke at times which causes them to desat but they are learning to pace themselves. The doctors think that they are doing great since they are only 36 weeks but of course I want them to do better so they can come home sooner.

We are taking it day by day, the only way to take it. Good luck to everyone.

    I'm sorry!  I hope a new therapist helps. :(

  • we still have a cough, but it's only at night. i introduced one of those plug-in vicks thingys and that seems to be helping???

other than that, glad i waited in line the 4 hours for the h1n1 vaccine and that DS got both his flu shots. and glad that you can't catch the flu through facebook - it seems everyone is sick!!

    hope everyone's feeling better soon!

  • Annabelle is doing well. Other then the growth spurts at night, where she keeps mommy and daddy up all night long with cluster feedings. We have her one month appt. on Monday, so I hope she has made some progress.

I love those vicks plug ins, triaminic also makes one that you don't have to plug in.  I like the triaminic one better, but it is hard to find refills for.

  • are these plug ins okay for the little guys? I'm willing to try anything.

Robbie's better today than yesterday. We managed to get through the night w/o him hacking and puking all night.

I checked on him about 12:30 and he was wheezing in his sleep, so I gave him a breathing tx a little early, but that seemed to do the trick and then he did well the rest of the night. I didn't even wake him for a tx around 4. He woke up coughing at 7, of course, but I gave him the albuterol & the steroid and that helped. He puked in the mask, though. BLAH!

Anyway, then he went back to sleep a little after 8 and slept until 11:00! SO DID I! It was awesome.
The cough is still really congested sounding, but he doesn't seem to be wheezing today and it's not constant coughing, so I'm deeming him improved, at least a little.

And KAM- I laughed at getting sick through FB. I feel the same way!

  • Keira's mystery illness these days is a rash that covers almost her entire face, but is worse around her eyes and mouth.  It has been coming and going since the beginning of September.  Been to the pedi and a dermatologist, but neither seems to know what it is.  I'm making an allergist appointment on Monday, but until then I've been watching what she eats and observing the rash for changes.  I took all dairy out of her diet for two weeks (scary thing to do when weight gain is still an issue) to see if it could be a milk protein sensitivity.  (Claire had one when she was younger that she outgrew), but no change.  Next is eggs.  So far she looks slightly better.  Not sure if it is the 4 days without eggs or what.  Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?

  • mcdev, I don't thankfully but a friend of mine has twin boys (full termers) with a TON of food allergy issues. I'll run it by her and see what she thinks.

She's a frequent poster over on the multiples board, as well. User name macchiatto.

  • Cooper is responding really well to the steroids they have been giving him to help his lungs. He was at 6 liters and 46% on Wednesday, and today he is down to 4 liters at 29% as of 4pm.  They are continuing to run tests to try and determine what is causing his lung issues.

They are also going to try giving him a bottle again as soon as the doctor gives it the green light.

His grandpa also got to hold him for the first time today!

aw :-) So sweet!  I'll never forget that moment!

  • I love this idea.  I've been wondering how everyone was doing.  I hope everyone starts feeling better.

We are doing well.   Nothing new to report just making do with two little cupcakes and enduring lock down with an active toddler!

  • We're still having weight issues :( Emma started daycare and is eating like a freaking rock star. She easily eats 2-3 times more food than she was a month ago. However at her weigh-in this week she hasn't gained any weight. Not even a freaking ounce in a month. I am so frustrated :(

  • Ivory....We're still dealing with the same thing here too.  Keira's been hanging at 19 lbs 3 oz for quite a while now.  Almost 2 months, I think.  Grrrrrrrr.

  • Ivory, maybe she's running around so much at daycare she's burning it off?

I sure wish I could donate some fat to all our kids. *sigh*
