3rd Trimester

Overpacking? Underpacking? I don't know.

Confession - I never read any of the posts about what to pack for baby at the hospital.

I have 2 footed sleepers, 3 little hats (2 cotton/1 knit), 1 pair of socks (the ones I left on DH's plate to tell him we were KU) , 1 onesie and a nice soft long gown. (I can't decide what I want her to wear home.) This all fits nicely in a resealable gallon bag which is going in my big bag.

I also have 2 little flannel blankets (I thought for covering myself while nursing more than for the baby), a soft cotton swaddling blanket. There is a fluffy frog blanket waiting to put over her in the carrier.

That is it.

Am I missing anything really important?

I'm not worried about my own stuff. I have that pretty under control.

  • If it makes you feel any better, think about all of the women who have to rush to the hospital with nothing but the clothes on their backs.  Hopefully, this will put your packing in to perspective.  Aside from that, my advice is pack what you feel you would like to pack.  There is really no right or wrong.  Good luck!  =)

  • Do you have any cute headbands or any accessories that would be good for photos?

I have looked around and thought about that. I'm not stressing on it. Thank you!!!

  • For baby I packed a couple of diapers, wipes, one long sleeved onesie and one short sleeved onesie, socks, no-scratch mittens, a hat and a coming home outfit (we bought two one for a boy and one for a girl since we're team green).  I am thinking about throwing one more outfit in there as a backup just in case something happens to the others.

  • I'm bringing some makeup, a hairbrush, travel size shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste...
Probably 2 pairs of comfy yoga/pj pants, night time nursing bra (still need to buy some), nipple cream, a couple shirts, extra socks and undies although I hear they give you some mesh ones.. still not sure what those are.
I am probably going to bring a newborn outfit for LO and maybe a 0-3 month outfit just in case, and a couple onesies. A blanket to cover him up when we go home.

I think I'm going to bring my boppy pillow and if I don't use it, oh well but I hear it can be helpful learning to nurse. Oh, a Sudoku book JUST in case I get a little bored...

I'm still tossing things in the corner of my closet and think I'll actually figure out what I am taking this weekend. These are the main things though..

  • This is what I packed:
    1 newborn outfit, 1 0-3 month outfit
1 hooded baby outerwear type footed/mittened outfit- January in Chicago is not the time to go easy on the warmth...
1 blanket to go over the carseat
    (and for me:)
    a short robe
    slipper socks
a going home outfit (very loose sweats)
    2 pairs of underwear
a small makeup bag with a couple makeup essentials, travel toothbrush and paste, travel deoderant, brush and comb and travel shampoo/conditioner
    nursing bra (a sleep one)
    nursing tank
    breast pads
    camera (charged)
    a book
a baggie with Excedrin and chocolates in it for my husband
    contact list of phone numbers

All in a small bag that I use as a carry-on.  I'll bring a boppy and my glasses, too. I might bring the baby book, too.  And I want my husband to tote along his slippers- they are the shoe style, so they would be nice to have there for comfort without looking dumb.

Oh! And I rolled up a big garbage bag to use to bring home any of the hospital supplies we want.

  • A boppy. Someone on here mentioned it a few days ago. Even if you're bottle feeding, I love boppys, they really help tired arms.
