With C, I visited my OB at 39 weeks and went into labor the next day.
Had my 39 week appointment this morning after having a night of NO sleep (restless, lots of back & hip pain) and contractions. Got to my appointment and he noticed that I was contracting while listening to Ari's heartbeat, so I agreed to let him check me - I'm at a 'very stretchy' 4cms and in early (active) labor.
So what did I do? I called the salon for a cut and eyebrow wax.
I fed C lunch, got him down for a nap and now I'm hanging out, procrastinating on packing his bag to go to the ILs' and semi-timing contractions (about 8 minutes apart or so). I'm hoping that he'll hold off so I can get a good dinner in ... DH & I were going to go on our last date tonight, without the toddler.
The only crappy part of the day is learning that my Daddy has Shingles. Everyone's worried about the freakin' swine flu - I'm worried about the freakin' Shingles. LOL.
Re: 39 weeks must be my 'lucky' day.
Yay! good luck... and sorry for your daddy... I hear it's really painful. My mother got them a few times while she was battling cancer from stress...
I went and got the shingles vaccine out of fear that I would too develop a case due to stress from her illness.
Hope he gets better soon
Shingles are really hard on the body. He started feeling bad yesterday and went to the doc this morning (he had a case last year, too) to confirm. He's not breaking out, thank goodness, but I know he's in a lot of pain.
DH said that his grandfather contracted Shingles multiple times during his cancer treatment as well. I can only imagine having to go through the crap that chemo brings, PLUS having the virus on top of it.
must be your lucky day! congrats and hope you get to meet your LO soon! -well... after your date night
