Eli has a cold. Just a run of the mill winter cold, congestion and a cough. So I've been running the humidifier in his room, but I've also been giving him Benadryl to help dry him up. Does that even make sense? It just occured to me the other day that what I'm doing might be counteracting the other. Part of me thinks it makes sense, but the other part of me isn't sure. Thoughts?
Oh, and I just wanted to rave about a new product we're using. They're the Little Remedies lollipops. They're supposed to help with sore throat/cough. They're non-medicated, but they help soothe the throat. Eli loves them, and they seem to be helping. Obviously not for little babies, but the pharmacist recommended them so we gave them a try. There is also a Little Remedies Cough and Congestion product, but I couldn't find it in the store. I'd really like to try that too.
Re: Cold remedies, do they contradict?
nope, you're cool. the benadryl will help dry him up (actually, as a side-effect (anticholinergic), not the main effect, which is why a newer antihistamine won't work as well), but the humidifier will help keep his mucus membranes moist (hate that word) and help prevent nosebleeds. can you tell we just finished antihistamines in school? LOL
yeah, i always loved when my throat was a little sore when i was young and i got ludens! yum! they do help a lot, i think
