We only left the house for doctors appointments. We had only a very few family visitors and they had to wash their hands when they came in. DH changed clothes and washed hands when he came home from work.
We stayed at home pretty much all the time - except doctor's appointments and a few outdoor excursions. If we had to stop at the store while we were out with DS, DH or I would go in while the other sat in the car with DS. We washed our hands and changed clothes when we got home from work. We used hand sanitizer 10+ times a day. The only visitors we had were close friends and family who had had flu shots and were healthy. We did go outside on walks and to parks (DS was too little to do anything besides sit in his stroller or lay on a blanket with us but it was nice to have a change of scenery). We got to know a lot of different city and county parks! The holidays were not easy because we are used to travelling home to the midwest and seeing both our familes, but it was just not an option last year. We went over to a close friend's house in town for Thanksgiving (just 7 people total), and we stayed home for Christmas. This year, we are considering driving to the midwest for Christmas; we're playing it by ear and waiting to see if DS gets sick, our families get sick, etc. We are pretty much on the same lockdown this year. It's not fun, but you get through it and the results are worth it. DS only got one very minor cold last spring - had a slight fever and a stuffy nose for about a week.
We left the house for the doctor only, or the occasional walk in the stroller if the weather permitted.
No kids were allowed over AT ALL. All guests had to be in good health, couldn't have smoked since they last changed clothes, everyone washed up immediately upon entering the house.
we do not take the baby out in public places. she only leaves the house for Dr. appts & daily walks. the only people allowed in our house are people without children (mostly just our parents). in addition, we have been pressuring anyone that may come in contact with her to get the flu shot (again, mostly just our parents). as far as the holidays go, we are playing it by ear. we may drive the 2 hours to visit family as long as everyone is 100% healthy, but we will see. my baby is on oxygen still though and has awful lungs, so we are becoming more like hermits with each passing day (especially because NY is under a state of emergency due to swine flu outbreaks).
We are not doing lockdown. We do mostly stay home besides going out to doctors appointments, but we also go to the store and restaurants during slow hours. Our pediatrician is cool with this. She is also cool with is flying home to florida for thanksgiving. We lived in florida and now in texas. These are 2 states that have RSV year round. We can't live locked away forever.
We do go out, but only to places we know won't be busy and only during off hours (for example, we went out to dinner at our favorite sushi place a few weeks ago as soon as they opened at 5pm and were out before there was more than 2 other couples). We stay away from places that people will go to even if they are sick like the pharmacy, grocery store, and church. We also won't be flying.
