Mixing Formula

This maybe be a really stupid question....bare with me!

We have been making a pitcher of formula for the day and mixing it with a wire whisk.  I know that it adds air when it is mixed, but we don't give it to her right after it is made...it usually has time to settle.  Do you think that there would still be increased air in the formula?  If so, what do you use to mix your formula?

Thanks!  Caron

Re: Mixing Formula

  • i thought formula was supposed to be mixed a maximum of one hour before eating?
  • I don't use anything to *mix* formula - I shake it up and down when it's in the bottle =D

This. But I'll make three bottles at a time to last for a few feedings.

  • If you keep it in the fridge it's good for 24 hours.

I mix up a pitcher before bed & I fill up the bottles and put the caps on them.

I actually find that her gas has decreased since I started doing it this way.  So I think there's actually LESS air in it.

I would say though, just as a suggestion...to use a plastic wisk and not a metal one.

  • We use the dr. browns formula mixing pitcher.  works great
