Anyone have plans on how they are going to get back in shape/lose weight after they are approved by their dr? I'm anxious to get back to losing weight and getting healthy. Just wanted to see everyone else's plans.
Once I get the okay to exercise I am going to do the 30 day shred. I've heard really good things about it. It's going to be hard work, but I am going to try it anyway! I am just going to eat healthy and watch my calories, but not go overboard because I am planning on breastfeeding.
I have my Wii Fit. I doubt I'll have time to go to a gym with 3 little ones. I need to bust my ass though, my wedding is April 30th and I still don't have a dress....
Well, I've been keeping up with my workouts throughout the pregnancy, so I'm hoping that helps my body bounce back.
Then, as soon as the doctor clears me, I plan on getting back to my workout routine (the intensity has obviously gone down since being pregnant) - cardio, weight training, etc. And, we purchased an elliptical to have at the house making squeezing in some exercise a bit easier with a newborn.
...I am just going to eat healthy and watch my calories, but not go overboard because I am planning on breastfeeding.
Ditto this. I also planning on walking as much as the weather allows and starting the 30 Day Shred as soon as I can (did it before my wedding with great results). And, if I feel I need more suport I'll go back to Weight Watchers.
the boymom is expecting a girl! big brothers 12.2009 and 02.2012
I'm planning on following my mother's strategy. She walked with us whenever we got fussy ... outside, under her coat, even though it was January and February in Wisconsin. She also went back to her regular exercise (running and/or exercise classes at the Y) when she felt comfortable, which was only 10 days after my brother was born.
Specifically, I plan on walking as much as my poor feet will possibly allow me to along with slowly resuming my gym workouts as I feel up to it. I've continued to do my usual workout (one hour of fairly intense cardio - stair stepper - with light weight work) daily, so I hope my time to feeling up to it will be short.
If I get the okay from my dr at 6 wks, I'll start doing the 30 Day Shred again - I had just started it when I got my BFP. I also have a Wii Fit, so I might put that to use.
I relied solely on BFing with DS last time around - and only lost half the pg weight I'd gained But it seems to work for some people!

What is the 30 Day Shred???? Never heard of it!

Breast Feeding is at the top of my list! Then walking a ton w/ baby and then resuming regular work outs hopefully no later than a month after delivery (sooner if possible) which include cardio 3 X/week, Pilates/yoga 1X per week and eating super healthy!

do you mean the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred? I love that program. The book is great. I just worry about it affecting BFing because it is pretty hardcore. Those workouts kicked my ass when I did it last year.
I want to get in shape ASAP. I think I will take it easy for the first 6 weeks, letting my body recover and get used to BFing and all. I will just walk and hike and do basic strength training (push ups/squats/yoga).
Then I need to get ripped because my grandma wants to have a family reunion/80th birthday celebration in Hawaii in the summer! Nothing like having to wear a bikini to motivate getting in shape.
I've had great success with Weight Watchers in the past, so I'll probably go back to that. I lost 35 lbs a couple years ago and kept it off until I got pregnant.
I'm going to start going to the gym as often as possible. Probably won't happen until LO is sleeping pretty well but I'm going to go as much as I can. Cooking healthy meals. I want to BF so I'm not going to go overboard, just start slow.
Im ready to get flamed for this, but Im not planning on doing much of anything for a while. Ive got a pretty fast metabolism and weight tends to come off me when I return to my normal eating habits (I gained some weight in college when I lived off of pizza and beer, but then when I graduated it all fell back off).
If I need to step it up, I'l just start watching my calories and finally get my lazy butt back in the gym.

Once I get the okay for exercise, DH and I will probably go to the gym together a few times a week. I work out better if I have a partner to "make" me go.

BFing and running - I'm training for a race in June. And some weights and other cardio. DH will watch the baby so I can go work out and vice versa. Or my mom can come over and do it too, which she's already volunteered to do.
Same thing I did w/ DD- started out w/ a little bit of yoga using the prenatal yoga dvd I'd used, then slowly started the gym at 6 wks PP. I did a mix of cardio and weights and got back into the mat pilates class. Although this time, I know how impossible your limb abs are for quite a while, so I'll stick to more of the yoga and cardio so I'm not as discouraged as I was last time!

About 5 years ago I lost 85 pounds on weight watchers. It was pretty easy b/c it fit my personality. I am planning on doing it again b/c they have an adjusted plan for breastfeeding mothers. Not sure if I will actually do the meetings but I still live by the plan itself.

First couple of months: breastfeed, eat reasonably
After that: add exercise
After that: evaluate weight loss and perhaps start Weight Watchers
Haha my plan exactly. We don't have Wii Fit, but DH bought the Wii Active and he gets a pretty good workout from it.
