I put DD to bed asleep only b/c she falls asleep nursing at the beginning of the night. That is not usually the hard part, its once she is asleep she wakes up every 2-3 hours. So I am doing Ferber when she wakes up to get her to go back to sleep on her own. I am feeding and changing her for one of the wakings in the middle the night b/c she was eating 2-3 times a night and I feel like I should feed her at least once for a while and then drop that. Also, how many nights/how much crying was your experience? I need major support, I am dreading tonight, it's the 3rd night. It was a little better last night so we'll see how it goes. .

Re: Do you think Ferber will still work if..
have you read the book?? the whole point is to put them to bed awake so they can learn to self soothe. she is waking up and going "where is mom? why am I not nursing still?" and that is why she will continue to wake up. they have to go to sleep on their own so when they wake up they won't be in a new situation.
ETA: I would still feed at least once bc she is used to it, but try and nurse for less and less each night. unlatch her before she is asleep and put her back in the crib.

every kid is different and from my experience, absolutely can do it even if they nurse to sleep. i did it to stop the 4 paci wakes a night and she still fell asleep to the bottle or in my arms. i just wouldn't go in there in the middle of the night. i wasn't feeding her anymore at 6 months though so not sure if its different but should be ok.
btw- to me, it would have been cruel to wake her up when she fell asleep to the bottle just to put her in the crib awake because a book told me too.
