Preemies

**msalinardi**

I was just looking at your ticker is a recent post about you having Pre-e and i noticed that you are pregnant again..congrats!!! I am writing you b/c i developed PIH...not quite to pre-c yet based on bloodwork but it happened out of the blue at 33 weeks and i was put on bedrest and delivered all within 4 days. I know i want another baby and probably sooner than later, but I am so nervous to become pregnant again as the docs told me i have a very good chance of this happening again. How did you deal with this? were you very nervous when you found out you were pregnant. I am scared. Thanks!

Re: **msalinardi**

  • I flipped out when I found out I was pregnant!!! We were planning on having more children but we were going to wait a couple more years...no such luck. I am seeing a doctor who sepcializes in high risk pregnancies. He said that my chances of developing Pre-e again are pretty high since I developed it so early in my last pregnancy. I think I have a 60% chance of having it again. The doctor told me not to worry (stress just raises my bloodpressure), that if i do develop Pre-e with this pregnancy is should be much less severe and will probably develope later on, most likely between week 28-32. He said the only thing I could do to help myself out in this pregnancy is to only gain between 5-10 lbs ( I still have all my baby weight from the last one!!). I eat really healthy, lots of protein, take my vitamins, plus extra calcium and folic acid. I actually feel much better with this pregnancy than I did with the last. I was really scared at first, but what could I do besides get the big A, which goes agianst everything I believe? I figured that If I can handle 118 days in the NICU, I can do it again. It also helped that despite my daughters early birth, she is doing great....we only had a couple of scares in the NICU and she didn't come home on any moniters. I just keep telling myself and the baby that he/she needs to stay in to week 38 and if not we will go from there. Both my pregnancies are miracles (I was told when I was 20 that I was infertile), so now that the shock has worn off I am looking forward to this baby! But after this my husband is getting a vasectomy!!!
