My 2 y/o DS has to get 2 doses of the flu shot (as I understand it, the 1st is to prime his immune system and the second is the actual vaccine). Well, he received the 1st dose in mid-October and is not due his 2nd dose until mid-November.
As everyone who listens to, watches or reads the news knows, the H1N1 is limited in availability, so I want to get the H1N1 vaccine as soon as I can. He is in daycare and I don't want to take chances with his being exposed to swine flu. However, I'm not sure about timing. Do I have to wait until he gets the 2nd dose of the regular flu shot in mid-Nov before getting the swine flu shot or nasal mist for him?
Re: Question re timing of H1N1 & Reg. Flu Shot
The flu shot and the booster must be 30 days apart. The H1N1 shot and the booster also must be 30 days apart.
You can have flu and H1N1 at the same time as long as they are not both a mist. Shot/shot or shot/mist are ok on the same day, then 30 days later for the boosters. He can't have two mists within 30 days of each other.

Ditto pp's on the booster timing.
My girls got their seasonal flu shots (DD1-mist, DD2-shot, obviously) on 10/8 and their H1N1 on 10/28, so 20 days apart. The only "restriction" was that DD1 had to get the H1N1 shot because she had the seasonal mist--and you can't have two mist vaccines within 30 days of each other (again, like a pp said).
I'm hoping to get DD2 the booster for the seasonal, but not sure when they'll have more of that available. We'll see about the H1N1 booster--hopefully there will be ample suppy by early December (when they're due for the booster) like they are forecasting. Not holding my breath, though.
