My dog

I've noticed over the past few weeks that when my dog comes to cuddle on the couch next to me, before she settles in, she will sniff my belly!

I wonder if she does it because she can notice that a part of my body is all of a sudden getting bigger or if she can sense something??

Anyone elses dog take an interest in their bellies?  She literally has to sniff every single time she comes near me now.

Re: My dog

  • At our birthing class the teacher said that is normal because when you are pregnant you give off a different scent. Plus our dogs notice that our bodies have cahnged,

  • When i was preg with dh1, my friends dog used to come sniff at my belly and sit next to me all the time. Freaky part is, he started doing this before we knew i was pregnant!

  • No, not at all. This weekend I stuck my belly in his face and chided him for being so unobservant, lol.
  • One of my dogs curls up on my lap with her head resting on my belly looking up at me and the other sits next to me and slumps her head over my belly.  They have definitely been much more cuddly with me since I've been pregnant. Can't wait for them to meet the baby.
  • My dogs are constantly sniffing my belly! I just figured it was because I drop food on it all the time, so they are sniffing the food.

  • Both my cat and dog have noticed that something is in there - they even like to rub their noses against my belly.

I also think my dog knows that I have milk.  What I don't like is when she catches me off guard and she puts her nose to my breast - I feel so violated when my dog does that.... I automatically jump away... ewww :(

  • I have an English Mastiff and a Labrador and they both come up to me and smell my belly. The labrador likes to rest her head on my belly and the english mastiff has to follow me every where. The definitely sense that something is going on.
