Okay, this sounds like a really stupid question - but I was thinking yesterday as I was getting things done at home that I don't
really know what all to put in the diaper bag. I mean obviously a changing pad, diapers, wipes, bottles - but what other things do you need in there or do you find it convenient to put in there? I'm guessing real life moms will have better advice than some list I would find on the internet

So please share your expert advice on what to keep in there!! THANK YOU - hope to be joining you soon!
Re: Help! What do you have in your diaper bag?
I always keep a plastic grocery bag (in case of poop explosion, it's a place to put the dirty clothes), a spare outfit (in case of explosion)
burp clothes, extra bibs (she is a drooler), toys (once she got older). I keep chapstick for myself and a few other things bc I don't carry a purse when I have the diaper bag.
When DS was a newborn, I had the following:
* Diapers, wipes, diaper ointment and a changing pad
* A small bottle (I was breastfeeding so always made up a pumped bottle with a few ounces if we were going out for any length of time) and a burp cloth (and a few extra breast pads for me - I leaked like crazy!)
* A change of clothes - for spit up or diaper explosions
* An extra pacifier
* A plastic bag for dirty diapers I couldn't throw away immediately or spit up clothing
* Hand sanitizer
My bag has:
4-5 diapers
travel wipes case
diaper cream
Diaper bag dispenser for dirty diapers and dirty clothes
hand sanitizer
Pacifier pod with 2 extra pacifiers
Pacifier wipes (actually cleansing wipes for anything, toys, etc.)
At least 2 burp cloths and 1-2 bibs (DS has reflux and can destroy these lol)
Receiving blanket
extra onesie
nursing cover
Mylicon drops
Now that it's cold I also have an extra hat in there
I have the little ducky that carries bags to put dirty diapers in. The bags are lined with baking soda so they don't feel. You can get them at Target.
Extra change of clothes for DS
Extra burb clothes
Small thing of hand sanitizer, infant tylenol (esp now with teething), baby powder
NOT STUPID AT ALL! I asked the same thing. I bought one diaper bag that I loved and quickly realized it was way too small for everything I need.
I have burp cloths, about 8 diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, extra onsie, extra pants, breast pads, extra shirt for me, blanket, bags for dirty diapers, and hooter hider. She is young though....so no need for toys or food yet. I also have a small coach purse that I put my keys/phone/wallet in and then throw that in the bag.
I have the petunia pickle bottome with the built in changing pad.
We cloth diaper, so if you're not planning to do that, you won't need some of the stuff. ?I keep:
?
- 4-6 cloth diapers and the same number of cloth wipes; a spare Snappi and diaper cover in case I use prefolds and DD isn't already wearing one.
- A wet bag for the dirty diapers/wipes
- A couple of clean outfits for DD including a hat and pair of socks and a couple of bibs
- Changing pad (came with my diaper bag)
- Gripe water and her homeopathic colic meds?
- At least four burp cloths (DD spits up a LOT so we need them all)?
- A receiving blanket?
I keep a changing pad, diapers, wipes, burp cloths, bibs, pacis, diaper cream, a few fav toys, hair brush/comb, hair clips... I think that's it.
In the beginning, I also kept mylicon and gripe water in there.
