Well, DD WAS fine!

She was diagnosed with Type A flu on Friday. She has not had a fever since Friday morning and has been on Tamiflu since Friday afternoon. She has had a ton of energy and eating fine. She seriously has not acted sick at all, all weekend.

I called the pedi this morning to ask how long she is contagious and when would she be released to go back to school. She has to be fever free for 48 hours and if it's caught early enough, it could be a 24 hour thing. Called her school to ask, same thing.

She was fine when she woke up. Gave her breakfast and her tamiflu and brought her to school. Once we got to the school I noticed she was kind of pale. The teacher assured me that she looked fine to her and that it could just be from a weekend of not doing much. I felt really strange about leaving her. I just had a feeling.

I left and went around the corner to Walgreens. My phone rings and it's the director. Emily is vomitting. Poor girl!

She doesn't have a fever so we are thinking it was from the tamiflu and not eating too much for breakfast. As soon as she can hold stuff down again I'm giving her floristor. The pedi said the tamiflu should not make her sick. I knew I should have started her on the floristor at the same time.

I also knew I should have gone with my instinct and brought her right back home! She cried when we were leaving school because she wanted to stay and kept saying she was hungry.

Now the difficult part is keeping DS away from her. All he wants to do is climb all over her.

  • Aww poor girl! I know your pedi said t/u was not a symptom of tamiflu but I thought I heard otherwise. Can you check on the prescription "side effects"? Hopefully she will feel better later today :)

  • The paper that came with her prescription did not have any side effects listed. I called the pharmacy and they said, "because it's compounded, there are no side effects."

Bubbly told me that was incorrect info. I should have started the floristor right then (that was Friday evening!).

  • DD is on Tamiflu and throws up if she doesn't eat right after taking it (learned that the hard way). It does say on our bottle to take it with a meal or snack if it causes upset stomach.
