IUGR and born at 35/36wk?

Hey everyone!

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and may be induced this week or next due to IUGR. Has anyone here been through that? IUGR or a baby born at 35 or 36 weeks? I know it's close to term but I'm still concerned.

Thanks!

Re: IUGR and born at 35/36wk?

  • Yep.  I was 36 weeks and induced for IUGR.  DS was born at 3lb 7 oz.  He was admitted into the nicu for hypoglycemia and stayed for 10 days.  He needed to learn to regulate body temp and for feeding & growing.  He was also treated for jaundice.

Because DS was so small, we have had alot of preemie issues come up.  This board has been great and the ladies here are so helpful.  I hope it all goes well for you.

  • Hi...

I had GD and IUGR and was had a c-section at 35 weeks.  My son was born at 4 lbs. 3 oz.  and 17" long.  He was taken to the NICU and put in an isolette.  He breathed on his own, no oxygen needed at all.  He was able to regulate his own temperature and was eating and gaining steadily.  His only "issue" was that he had a bit of jaundice but he only needed the bili lights for less than 24 hours.  He was born on a Friday and was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

Good luck and don't worry... it will be fine!!  :)

  • My DD was born at exactly 35 weeks.  She was grunting a little and they felt she was working hard to breath, so she was admitted to the NICU.  She was 5lbs 12oz at birth and other than the grunting and jaundice, she did well- she was in the NICU for 5 days.
  • My IUGR son was born on 37 wks to the day and was just fine.  IUGR is such a scary condition where time is your biggest enemy and best friend.  GL!  Trust your doctors, they know when your baby is better off out than in.
