3rd Trimester

NBR runners

Does anyone have the Forerunner or any of the other GPS tracking things?  I haven't run during the the pregnancy at all and am looking forward to starting back up once the baby is born.  I would love to track my running but am not sure if I want to spend the money.

Re: NBR runners

  • I don't have one but I stopped running at 27 weeks (per Doctor's orders).  So, I too am anxious to get back into things post-baby.  We'll have to push each other along.  What distances did you run pre-pregnancy?  Any goals for post-baby?  I have done a few half marathons and signed up for the Philly Distance Run in September, 9 months post-baby.
  • I have a Forerunner, but DH uses it more for riding his bike than I do for running.  I like it, but I live in an area with a TON of trees, so when there are a lot of leaves on the trees (spring, summer, and most of fall), I lose the signal a lot.  That drives me nuts, because I feel like my data is messed up.

I use a Polar heart rate monitor for HR/calorie tracking and www.mapmyrun.com for distance, and I am pretty happy with that.

  • I have the forerunner 405 and love it.  Get the one with the heart rate monitor.  I like looking at the maps after I'm done and seeing elevation and such.  It tends to motivate you to go just a little further to finish the mile you are on.  It does take quite a while to acquire a signal, which is my only complaint.

  • Thanks!  I ran cross country in high school, but now I really just run to keep in shape.  I really like being able to eat what I want and running lets me do that!  I usually ran around 20-30 miles a week prepregnancy.  I'm thinking about getting a jogging stroller, too, so I can take LO along.

I run about the same as you, not now, but I'll get back to it.  I bought the BOB Revolution jogger, and can't wait to get out there with LO.

Ditto.  I love my 405 - my sister borrowed it and also loved it so much she bought one.  I mostly run on a treadmill now (so I can take frequent bathroom breaks ;-)) but anytime Im outside I use it.  We also got a BOB Revolution and can't wait to head back outside.
