H1N1 Question.

So, we attended a Halloween party on Friday. One boy had a cough and really wasn't looking very good. We were told he had allergies. Well, now he has a fever and I'm freaking out because the kids were around him. H1N1 has been out of control in my area. What is the incubation period? Are you contagious up until the fever is gone? How concerned should I be?

The boy has down's syndrome so I am hoping that he does not have the flu because it could be very serious for him.

Oh, I hope he doesn't have it.  It can be hard on anyone with compromised immune (my dd and I are in that category).  But reality is that he may not be the only kid at the party with it.  You are contagious before you even have symptoms so you might have been exposed by the kid who looked good at the party.  If your area is high level, you are going to be exposed at some point and that just s#cks.  It is all over my school and dd attends a prek-8 school so I know we are sitting ducks.  I hope your kids are fine and that boy too.
