Constipation/Laxitive ?

I have been pretty constipated since giving birth.  I'm on a stool softener that was prescribed before I left the hospital.  It isn't doing the trick.  I eat a very high fiber diet and I drink at least 96oz of water per day.  What laxatives, if any, did your doctor say were ok while BFing?  Google is no help as it basically says there is no research on what is safe.  I can call my doctor on Monday but I'm tired of this and want to start taking something NOW!  Any help would be much appreciated.

My doctor said miralax was the thing to take while I was pregnant.  I'd venture to say that if it was safe then, it would be safe now.  Here's a website that tells you what meds are safe while breastfeeding.

Milk of magnesia is fine to take, do it twice a day, You can also take miralax.
